Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1
''Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1'' is a 2010 album of remixes by American electronic musician Daniel Lopatin under the pseudonym Chuck Person. Its tracks consist of chopped and screwed, chopped, looped samples of various songs—including popular songs from the 1980s and 1990s—processed with effects such as Delay (audio effect), delay, reverb, and pitch shifting; the results highlight mournful or existential moments from the sources. It was used as an initial template for the vaporwave internet microgenre. Prior to ''Eccojams Vol. 1'' release, Lopatin posted a series of videos that he called "eccojams" to a YouTube channel named "sunsetcorp". The album was released under the label The Curatorial Club in August 2010 on 100 cassette tapes. Daniel Lopatin (born July 25, 1982), best known as Oneohtrix Point Never or OPN, is an American Experimental music, experimental electronic music producer, composer, singer, and songwriter. His music has utilized wikt:trope, tropes from various musical genres and eras, Sampling (music), sample-based composition, and complex MIDI production. Lopatin began releasing primarily synthesizer-led music in the 2000s, and received acclaim for the 2009 compilation ''Rifts (Oneohtrix Point Never album), Rifts'' as well as the influential vaporwave side-project ''Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1'' (2010). He subsequently signed with Warp (record label), Warp in 2013, and has since released studio albums on the label to positive critical reception. ''Memory Vague'' is a 2009 audiovisual, audio-visual project by Oneohtrix Point Never, the alias of electronic musician Daniel Lopatin. It was released as a limited-edition DVD-R by Root Strata on June 1, 2009. Background ''Memory Vague'' compiles found footage (appropriation), found footage of commercials, animation and music videos sourced from YouTube videos and edited by Lopatin in Windows Movie Maker. It collects several videos previously uploaded to YouTube via Lopatin's sunsetcorp channel, including the profile-raising videos "angel" and "nobody here." The DVD features several of Lopatin's "eccojams": audio-visual pieces which typically sample micro-excerpts of 80's sources and "slow them down narcotically" with effects such as echo and pitch shifting added in a manner reminiscent of chopped and screwed styles. Roger Troutman
Roger Lynch Troutman Jr. (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999), also known simply as Roger, was an American singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer. He was the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music. Troutman frequently used the talk box, a device that is connected to an instrument (frequently a keyboard, but most commonly a guitar) to create different vocal effects. Troutman used a custom-made talkbox—the Electro Harmonix "Golden Throat"—through a Moog Minimoog and later in his career a Yamaha DX100 FM synthesizer. "Only Over You" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac from their 1982 album ''Mirage''. It was written by Christine McVie for her boyfriend at the time, the Beach Boys' drummer Dennis Wilson. The record sleeve states, "With thanks to Dennis Wilson for inspiration."
