Chuck (engineering)
A chuck is a specialized type of clamp used to hold an object with radial symmetry, especially a cylinder. In a drill, a mill and a transmission, a chuck holds the rotating tool; in a lathe, it holds the rotating workpiece. Chucks commonly use jaws to hold the tool or workpiece. The jaws (sometimes called dogs) are typically arranged in a radially symmetrical pattern like the points of a star. Jawed chucks may require a wrench-like device called a ''chuck key'' to be tightened or loosened, but other jawed chucks may be tightened or loosened by hand force alone, offering convenience at the expense of gripping force. Chucks on some lathes have jaws that move independently, allowing them to hold irregularly shaped objects. More complex designs might include specially shaped jaws, greater numbers of jaws, or quick-release mechanisms. The BSD Daemon, nicknamed Beastie, is the generic mascot of BSD operating systems. The BSD Daemon is named after '' software daemons'', a class of long-running computer programs in Unix-like operating systems—which, through a play on words, takes the cartoon shape of a demon. The BSD Daemon's nickname ''Beastie'' is a slurred phonetic pronunciation of ''BSD''. Beastie customarily carries a trident to symbolize a software daemon's forking of processes. The FreeBSD web site has noted Evi Nemeth's 1988 remarks about cultural-historical daemons in the ''Unix System Administration Handbook'': "The ancient Greeks' concept of a 'personal daemon' was similar to the modern concept of a 'guardian angel' ... ''Chuck'' is the third studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. The album was released on October 12, 2004. It is the band's last album to feature guitarist Dave Baksh as he left Sum 41 on May 11, 2006, to pursue his career with his own band Brown Brigade. This is the final album to feature the full classic lineup (Baksh, Deryck Whibley, Cone McCaslin and Steve Jocz). Baksh returned in 2015, but Frank Zummo replaced Jocz that same year. ''Chuck'' peaked at No. 2 on the Canadian Albums Chart and No. 10 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, making it the band's highest-charting album until it would be surpassed by ''Underclass Hero'' in 2007. Owned by Tower Above Media, the station simulcasts a classic hits music format branded as ''Awesome 99.5'' from an HD Radio subchannel of SummitMedia's WJMZ-FM. History W258CB began broadcasting at 97.7 FM as W249CB in December 2007 in Six Mile, re-broadcasting WLFJ-FM HD-3, which in turn was a simulcast of WHRZ-LP in Spartanburg, which carried a Christian Contemporary format. Chuck Steak
Chuck steak is a cut of beef and is part of the sub-prime cut known as the chuck. The typical chuck steak is a rectangular cut, about 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick and containing parts of the shoulder bones, and is often known as a " 7-bone steak," as the shape of the shoulder bone in cross-section resembles the numeral '7'. This cut is usually grilled or broiled; a thicker version is sold as a " 7-bone roast" or "chuck roast" and is usually cooked with liquid as a pot roast. The bone-in chuck steak or roast is one of the more economical cuts of beef. In the United Kingdom, this part is commonly referred to as "braising steak".
