Christian Smith (sociologist)
Christian Stephen Smith (born 1960) is an American sociologist, currently the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. Smith's research focuses primarily on religion in modernity, adolescents and emerging adults, sociological theory, philosophy of science, the science of generosity, American evangelicalism, and culture. Smith is well known for his contributions to the sociology of religion, particularly his research into adolescent spirituality, as well as for his contributions to sociological theory and his advocacy of critical realism. Biography Smith was born on October 23, 1960. He attended Wheaton College (1978–1979) and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Gordon College in 1983. Christian Daniel Smith (born 10 December 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He scored 53 goals in 464 league and cup appearances during a sixteen-year playing career. A former Port Vale youth team player, he was a first team squad member in the 2006–07 season, also spending time on loan at Cambridge United and Northwich Victoria. In 2007, he signed with Clyde, moving on to Wrexham a year later. In 2009, he signed with York City, only to return to Wrexham later in the year. After loan spells at Newport County, Barrow and Tamworth, he left the club for a second time in 2011, after which he joined Chester. Christian Smith (born October 31, 1983) is an American middle-distance runner from Garfield, Kansas. He graduated from Pawnee Heights High School in 2002 and from Kansas State University in 2006. Biography At K-State, Smith was the NCAA champion in the men's mile at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, and was also a 1500m All-American in 2006, a four-time Indoor All-American (in 2003, 2004, 2005, & 2006), collegiate record holder in the indoor 1000m, and he also holds the indoor 1000m school record and the outdoor 800m and 1500m school records. Orpheus Winds is the faculty woodwind quintet at Brigham Young University (BYU). History Orpheus Winds was formed in the 1970s at Brigham Young University by one of its charter members, Glenn Willams, a BYU music professor. The ensemble is one of the most renowned woodwind quintets in Western North America. The ensemble performs nationally and internationally including tours in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Brazil. They regularly perform at BYU in the Franklin S. Harris Fine Arts Center. Christian Smith is a Swedish DJ, record producer and remixer. In 1994, he founded Tronic Record Label, now one of the top 3 selling techno labels in the world according to Beatport. He is also the founder of Tronic Radio, a weekly show now syndicated to over 100 stations around the globe with their 200th show was celebrated with special guest Adam Beyer. Christian Jollie Smith (15 March 1885 – 14 January 1963) was an Australian socialist lawyer and co-founder of the Communist Party of Australia. She was notable for her work representing striking miners, underprivileged tenants during the great depression and briefing legal counsel for the successful High Court challenges to the attempted exclusion of Egon Kisch from Australia and the Communist Party Act of 1951. Christen Smith (17 October 1785 – 22 September 1816) was an early 19th-century Norwegian physician, economist and naturalist, particularly botanist. He died, only 30 years old during a dramatic expedition to the Congo River in 1816, leaving a wealth of botanical material. Early years Smith was born at Skoger in Drammen, Norway. He studied medicine and botany at the University of Copenhagen under Professor Martin Vahl. Together with Jens Wilken Hornemann, he traveled through large parts of Norway and carried out botanical investigations, collecting plants to be included in the plate work '' Flora Danica''.
