Christian Reformed Church In Myanmar
The Christian Reformed Church in Myanmar is a Reformed church of Myanmar, and was founded in 1985 by Pastor Chan Thleng who was formerly ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Myanmar. He belongs to the Matu tribe in Southern Chin State born in 1954, becoming Christian in 1974. In 1985 he founded the United Christian Church after he graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI. He returned to Burma and changed the denomination's name to the Christian Reformed Church. It has 52 congregations and 13 preaching points with more than 6,000 members. The church is divided into 10 classes. Most of the evangelists work among Buddhist and Animist people. The Church recognizes the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, Canons of Dort and the Ecumenical Creeds. To train pastors the church founded the Reformed Theological seminary in Yangon in 1997. The World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) was a fellowship of more than 200 churches with roots in the 16th-century Reformation, and particularly in the theology of John Calvin. Reformed Evangelical Church In Myanmar
The Evangelical Reformed Church of Myanmar is a Reformed, Christian Church in the country of Myanmar (formerly Burma). It holds to the Westminster Confession of Faith History The church was formally organised in 1998. It was established by Rev. Dr. Thang Bwee. Main activities and church planting is located in the Southern part of Chin State. For many years the church struggled without help. In the early 2000s, the denomination suffered a split because some pastors questioned the Reformed doctrine of church government, preferring one-man leadership over their churches. About one-third of the congregations withdrew, mostly to Pentecostal Churches. In 2003, a mission partnership was made with the Presbyterian Church of Australia, and shortly after organisation, the denomination grew to 1,800 members; by 2000 the church grew to 2,500 followers; and by 2008, the denomination had about 7,000 members and 40 churches. The United Reformed Churches in Myanmar is a confessional conservative Calvinist denomination in Myanmar. It has 16 local churches (5 in Yangon Classis, 5 in Kalay Classis and 6 in Falam Claasis) and two mission fields. There are 17 ordained clergy in 2019. The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Myanmar was founded by Reverend Robert Thawm Luai in 1983. Members of this Church were once affiliated with different Christian denominations and churches, eventually seceding due to liberalism, ecumenism and charismatism. As of 2004, this denomination consisted of 35 individual churches, 13 house fellowships and 5,000 members. It was served by 40 pastors in 4 Presbyteries and a General assembly. The Reformed Ecumenical Council (REC) was an international organization of Calvinism churches. It had 39 member denominations from 25 countries in its membership, and those churches have about 12 million people together. It was founded August 14, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Michigan as the Reformed Ecumenical Synod. The Reformed Ecumenical Council was the second largest international Calvinist alliance and the more conservative of the two largest. History The migration of the Mizo people from Mizoram State in northeast India to Myanmar from 1914 to 1950 contributed to spreading Presbyterianism within the country. Some of these migrants became Presbyterians during the revival in their region in the 1930s organized by Welsh Presbyterian missionaries. The Presbyterian congregations in Myanmar were under the care of Mizo Presbyterian Church in India for several years until the founding of the Presbyterian Church of Myanmar. The Presbyterian Church of Myanmar (PCM) was officially established at Losau in 1956 by Mizo immigrants after they moved to the Kalay and Kabaw Valley in upper Chindwin. Matupi, Myanmar
Matupi (, ) is a town in the Matupi Township of Chin State in western Myanmar. There are 6 major Chin tribes living in Matupi; the Matu, Mara(Tlosai,Hlaipao, Hawthai,Sizo,etc), Dai, Zotung, Lautuv and Khumi tribes. Transportation There are two roads leading from Matupi. The first leads to Mindat and is long), and the second leads to Hakha township ( long). Depending on the weather, there are buses that go back and forth between Pakokku located in Magway and Matupi on a weekly basis, although buses may travel between Matupi and Pakokku more than once a week as well. Minibuses from Pakkokku's Junction 8 bus station depart for Matupi most mornings starting at 7am, passing through Mindat. The road to Mindat is paved and windy and then semi-paved and much more bumpy from Mindat to Matupi. The minibuses return from Matupi to Pakokku each morning.
