Christ's Church Cathedral is a cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Niagara, located at 252 James Street North, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The parish was established in 1835, with construction for the present building taking place from 1852 to 1873. The cathedral has gone through several expansions and renovations since its opening in 1876. History The parish was established by John Geddes, then the Dean of Niagara, in 1835. The parish's present building was built from 1852 to 1873. In 1872, the original church facade was demolished for the building of a new cathedral. The new building was elevated to the status of cathedral and formally opened in 1876. In 2003, Dean Peter Wall performed a wedding for a lesbian couple, whilst the national church was still in the process of debating the blessing of same-sex unions. Christ's Church is a historic Anglican church in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1822 and completed in 1891, the church is a contributing property to the Greensburg Downtown Historic District. History The first Anglican church services in Greensburg were held in September 1813 at the Westmoreland County court house, with missionary priests from the Society for the Advancement of Christianity in Pennsylvania as celebrants. From 1814 to 1822, the Rev. Moses Bennett traveled into the region to hold services. In December 1822, a charter for the parish was signed, then granted by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1823 under the name "Christ's Church," and Bennett became the first rector, serving until 1824. The first building of Christ's Church was erected in 1823. In 1854, the second church was built at its present-day location on Main Street to a design by priest-architect John Henry Hopkins. Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) is a non-denominational Christian church megachurch located in Metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. The church has several campuses in Arizona. Weekend church attendance was 32,000. History Christ's Church of the Valley was founded by pastor Dr. Donald Wilson in 1982 with services held in a rented movie theater. Christ's Church of the Valley also held services in an elementary school and a strip mall for a short period of time. Cill Chriosd or Kilchrist (Christ's Church) is a ruined former parish church of Strath, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It was constructed around the 16th century, replacing an earlier medieval church on the same location, and was used until 1840 when the parish church was relocated to Broadford.
