Chisholm Trail
The Chisholm Trail was a trail used in the post-Civil War era to drive cattle overland from ranches in Texas to Kansas railheads. The trail was established by Black Beaver, a Lenape guide and rancher, and his friend Jesse Chisholm, a Cherokee merchant. They collected and drove numerous cattle along the trail to Kansas, where they could be shipped east to achieve higher prices. The southern terminus was Red River Station, a trading post near the Red River along the northern border of Texas. The northern terminus was a trading post near Kansas City, Kansas. Chisholm owned both of these posts. In the years of the cattle drives, cowboys would drive large herds from ranches across Texas to the Red River Station and then north to Kansas City. Chisholm Trail Parkway
The Chisholm Trail Parkway is a toll road operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) in Tarrant and Johnson counties connecting the central business district of the city of Fort Worth at Interstate 30 to US 67 in Cleburne. The parkway is a , controlled-access, two- to six-lane divided toll road along the route of an extension of State Highway 121. Environmental clearance for the project was received in June 2005. Initial construction began in April 2010. Chisholm Trail Parkway opened to traffic on May 11, 2014. The cost of the parkway was approximately $1.4 billion. The segment of the parkway from FM 1187 to I-30 in Tarrant County was originally named Southwest Parkway. Legislation renaming that segment was passed in May 2011. Chisholm Trail (Cambridge)
The Chisholm Trail is a walking and cycling route in Cambridge, England. It will link Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Biomedical Campus in the south to Cambridge North railway station and the business and science parks. It will also connect with the Guided Busway and the National Cycle Network. Once completed, the trail will provide a 26 kilometre route from Trumpington to St Ives. The route follows current and former rail infrastructure and largely avoids conflicts with car traffic. It includes the new Abbey Chesterton bridge for bicycles and pedestrians across the River Cam, installed in November 2020. The Chisholm Trail is named after local resident and campaigner Jim Chisholm who first suggested a walking and cycling route along the railway line through central Cambridge.
