The China national under-17 basketball team is the national basketball team of the People's Republic of China and is governed by the Chinese Basketball Association It represents the country in international under-17 and under-16 (under age 17 and under age 16) basketball competitions. As reigning champion of Asia, China achieved the 7th place at every FIBA Under-17 World Championship where it left behind competition from Europe and America. The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as CBA, is a national non-profit sports organisation in China. It represents China in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and FIBA Asia, as well as the sport of basketball in the All-China Sports Federation. 2017 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship
The 2017 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship (also known as the 2018 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship) was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup. The tournament was held in Foshan, China from 2 to 8 April 2018. The competition was scheduled to be played in Dalang, China from 26 March to 1 April 2018. The top four teams would represent FIBA Asia to the 2018 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup. Qualification Aside from the host nation and the defending champions, each of FIBA Asia's six subzones also gets one berth each, except for the Persian Gulf and West Asian subzones, which were allocated two berths each. Rounding out the 16-team tournament are the four berths that would be added to each subzone, depending on its teams' performance in the previous championship. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. The CBA should not be confused with the National Basketball League (NBL), which is a professional minor league. There is also a Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). 2015 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship
The 2015 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. The tournament was supposed to be held in Bangalore, India from July 2 to 12, but according to FIBA's official tournament website, it is scheduled to be played in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 29 to November 7. South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei in the Finals, 78–69 to capture their first FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship after finishing second in the first two installments of the competition. Three-time defending champions China on the other hand managed to capture bronze against Japan, 80–58. The top three teams will represent FIBA Asia in the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Spain.
