Chile Tennis Federation
Chile Tennis Federation ( es, Federación de Tenis de Chile) is the national governing body of a tennis in Chile. The federation was formed on April 3, 1920 in Santiago, under the name of the ''Lawn Tennis Association of Chile'' (LTAC). In 1948 LTAC joined the International Tennis Federation. At the national level it is affiliated to the Chilean Olympic Committee and on region basis it is the member of South America Tennis Confederation. Chile Tennis Federation operates all of the Chilean national representative tennis sides, including the Chile Davis Cup team, the Chile Fed Cup team and youth sides as well. CTF is also responsible for organizing and hosting tennis tournaments within Chile and scheduling the home international fixtures. Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The player who is unable to return the ball validly will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society and at all ages. Chile Davis Cup Team
The Chile men's national tennis team represents Chile in Davis Cup tennis tournament and is governed by Federación de tenis de Chile. The team played in the World Group on 2019 and reached the final one time in 1976, losing the cup against Italy in Santiago. Chile is currently #21 in the ITF Davis Cup rankings. The team is currently captained by former Chilean tennis player Nicolás Massú. History Chile began playing at the Davis Cup in 1928, but would not win a tie until 1933, away at Uruguay, winning their first home tie in 1969, against Argentina. The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCh) (:es:Comité Olímpico Chile, Comité Olímpico Chile) is a non-profit private organization composed of all Chilean sports federations who join it and accept its governance through statutes and regulations. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis. It was founded in 1913 as the International Lawn Tennis Federation by twelve national tennis associations. The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King.
