''Children of Darkness'' (german: Kinder der Finsternis) is a German silent drama film directed by E. A. Dupont and starring Grit Hegesa, Hans Mierendorff, and Sybil Smolova. It was released in two separate parts ''Der Mann aus Neapel'' in December 1921 and ''Kämpfende Welten'' in January 1922. Both parts premiered at the Ufa-Palast am Zoo. The film's sets were designed by the art director Paul Leni. It was shot in Berlin and Naples. Fritz Schulz (actor)
Fritz Schulz (25 April 1896 – 9 May 1972) was a German and Austrian movie and stage actor, singer and director. Born in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), Austria-Hungary, he appeared in almost one hundred movies between 1917 and 1970. Of Jewish extraction, Schultz fled the German film industry in Berlin at the onset of Nazism in 1933 and moved to Vienna to act in and direct independent Austrian film productions. He departed Austria as an exile upon the German Anschluss in 1938 and settled in Switzerland where he concentrated on his stage career until his death in Zürich in 1972. He was married at the age of 14 to 19 year old actress Ágnes Esterházy from 1910 until her death in 1956. Adele Sandrock (; born Adele Feldern-Förster; 19 August 1863 – 30 August 1937) was a German-Dutch actress. After a successful theatrical career, she became one of the first German movie stars. Early life Sandrock was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the daughter of the German merchant Eduard Sandrock (1834–1897) and his Dutch wife, Johanna Simonetta ten Hagen (1833–1917). With sister Wilhelmine (1861-1948) and brother Christian (1862–1924), she grew up in Rotterdam, and, after her parents' divorce on 15 November 1869, in Berlin.
