Children's Court Of Queensland
The Children's Court of Queensland is a specialized court in Queensland, a state of Australia which deals with serious crimes committed by children under the age of seventeen years in the state. Decisions made by the Children's Court of Queensland may be heard on appeal to the District Court of Queensland; and the Children's Court of Queensland has appellate jurisdiction where for matters heard before a magistrate of the Children's Court. The court should not be confused with the Children's Court which is a division of the Magistrates' Court of Queensland. Establishment The court is established under the ''Children's Court Act 1992'' (Qld). The court is a court of record and is an inferior court. The court came into existence in 1992. The Supreme Court of Queensland is the highest court in the Australian State of Queensland. It was formerly the Brisbane Supreme Court, in the colony of Queensland. The original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court allows its trial division to hear civil law (common law), civil matters involving claims of more than 750,000; criminal law, criminal matters involving serious offences (including murder and manslaughter); and matters arising under the ''Corporations Act 2001'' (Cth) and cross-vesting legislation. Murri Court
Murri Courts are a type of specialist community court for sentencing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Queensland, Australia. The first Murri Court was established in Brisbane in August 2002, with more being established throughout the state over the next 10 years, catering for both adult and young offenders, under the Magistrates and Children's Court networks. Indictment
An indictment ( ) is a formal accusation that a legal person, person has committed a crime. In jurisdictions that use the concept of felony, felonies, the most serious criminal offence is a felony; jurisdictions that do not use the felonies concept often use that of an indictable offence, an offence that requires an indictment.
