Chief Of Staff Of The Navy (Sri Lanka)
Chief of Staff of the Navy has been the title of the second in command of the Sri Lanka Navy. The post is held by a regular officer of the rank of Rear Admiral and is the second senior position in the navy. Chief of Staff is charged with assisting the Navy Commander in both operational and administrative aspects, functioning as the Acting Navy Commander in his absences or incantation. Chief of Staff is assisted by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy. Admiral Thisara Sugeeshwara Gunasekara Samarasinghe RSP, VSV, USP, ndc, psc, DISS, MNI, SLN (born: 16 July 1955) was the Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy from 15 July 2008 to 15 January 2011. He had a distinguished 36-year career in the Sri Lankan Navy. His career included a wide range of key appointments at sea and ashore, including training in the United Kingdom, India and the United States. Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, RSP and Bar, USP is a Sri Lankan admiral. He is the incumbent Commander of the Navy of the Sri Lanka Navy. Naval career Educated at Royal College, Colombo, Perera joined the Si Lanka Navy in the executive branch in 1987 as an Officer Cadet of the 5th intake of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. He was commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant in 1989 following his training at the General Sir John Kotalawala Defence University and Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne, WV, RWP & Bar, RSP, VSV, USP, NI(M), ndc, psn, is a retired Sri Lankan naval officer, and former Chief of Defence Staff of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. Jayantha Perera
Admiral (retired) Jayantha Perera RWP, VSV, USP, ndu, psc was the 19th Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy. Education and career Educated at Thurstan College, Colombo, Perera enlisted in the Sri Lanka Navy on 23 August 1978.
