Cheshire Women Cricket Team
The Cheshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Cheshire. They joined the Women's County Championship in 1998 and competed in the tournament until 2016, as well as competing in the Women's Twenty20 Cup between 2009 and 2019. The team no longer competes at senior county level. They are partnered with the regional side North West Thunder. History 1930–1937: Early History The first recorded match involving Cheshire Women took place in 1930, which they lost to Durham Women. After this, they played various one-off matches, often combined with neighbouring Lancashire, as Lancashire and Cheshire, under which they competed in the Women's Area Championship and the first Women's County Championship, in 1997. 1998– : National Competition Cheshire Women joined the County Championship in 1998, replacing Lancashire and Cheshire Women, and won Division 3 in their first season. Chester Boughton Hall Cricket Club
Chester Boughton Hall Cricket Club (often called Chester BH) is a cricket club that is based in Boughton, Chester, England. The club has four senior XIs playing Saturday sides that compete in the Cheshire County Cricket League of which the 1st XI is in the ECB Premier League. History The first game at Boughton Hall was played 20 May 1873. In the 1870s Boughton Hall was a large private house standing in spacious grounds. The owner of the time, Mr John Thompson, acquired a taste for cricket on his scholastic travels which took him to Rossall School and then Cambridge. Thompson, upon his return, converted part of the Hall's grounds into a cricket field to which he invited friends to play, under his captaincy, as Boughton Hall Cricket Club. 2016 Women's County Championship
The 2016 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 20th cricket Women's County Championship season. The Championship was won by Kent who recorded their seventh championship, setting a new record for the number of championships won. The runners-up were Sussex. This was the last season in which Division 4 was contested. Following a reorganisation of the structure of the tournament, all the teams in Division 4 were promoted to an expanded Division 3 in 2017. 2006 Women's County Championship
The 2006 Women's County One-Day Championship was the 10th cricket Women's County Championship season. It ran from May to August and saw 27 county teams plus Wales compete in a series of divisions. Kent Women won the County Championship as winners of the top division, achieving the first Championship title. Competition format Teams played matches within a series of divisions with the winners of the top division being crowned County Champions. Matches were played using a one day format with 50 overs per side. The championship works on a points system with positions within the divisions being based on the total points. Points were awarded as follows: Win: 20 points. Tie: 15 points. Loss: Bonus points. No Result: 4 points. Abandoned: 4 points. Sophie Ecclestone (born 6 May 1999) is an English cricketer who plays for Lancashire, North West Thunder, Manchester Originals, Sydney Sixers and England. In December 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named her the Emerging Player of the Year. At the end of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in March 2020, she became the world's number one bowler in Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket.
