The Hotel Chelsea (also the Chelsea Hotel or the Chelsea) is a hotel in Manhattan, New York City, built between 1883 and 1885. The 250-unit hotel is located at 222 West 23rd Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, in the neighborhood of Chelsea. It has been the home of numerous writers, musicians, artists and actors. Though the Chelsea no longer accepts new long-term residents, the building is still home to many who lived there before the change in policy. Arthur C. Chelsea Hotel (Atlantic City)
The Chelsea, also known as Chelsea Hotel, was a hotel located on the Atlantic City boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The original hotel was a 400-room Holiday Inn and a 340-room Howard Johnson which was purchased and then renovated in 2008. The property was acquired by the then Eldorado Resorts in 2017 and connected as an additional hotel tower serving Tropicana. History The original Chelsea was different hotel in a different location near the Atlantic City shore. The original hotel was opened in 1899 and had 250 rooms. It hosted distinguished guests including William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1927, twelve stories were added to the hotel. In 1942, during World War II, the hotel was used as housing for army personnel. The hotel would eventually be renamed to Sheraton-Deauville. Claudio Edinger
Claudio Edinger is a Brazilian photographer born in Rio de Janeiro in 1952. He lived in New York from 1976 to 1996. Biography Edinger studied economics at Mackenzie University in São Paulo, Brazil. At the same time, in the beginning of the Seventies, he began taking photographs. In 1975 he had his first individual exhibition, at the São Paulo Museum of Art, with photographs of the Martinelli Building, a vertical slum in downtown São Paulo. The following year he moved to New York City and lived there until 1996. Throughout the 20 years he spent in the United States, Edinger developed personal photographic essays. He also worked as a freelance photographer for Brazilian and North American newspapers and magazines such as ''Veja'', ''Time'', ''Newsweek'', ''Life'', ''Rolling Stone'', '' Vanity Fair'', ''The New York Times Magazine'', among many others. The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto is the largest hotel in Canada, located at 33 Gerrard Street West in Toronto, Ontario. The 26 floor, hotel contains 1,590 guest rooms and suites, with 5 basements and 18 elevators. History The structure originally received funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to be constructed as a student housing cooperative and then was planned as a residential condominium building by Toronto architectural firm Crang and Boake. However, it eventually opened as a hotel on October 15, 1975, operated by Delta Hotels as Delta's Chelsea Inn. The hotel was purchased in 1996 by Great Eagle Holdings of Hong Kong. On December 19, 2012, Great Eagle Holdings announced it would end its management agreement with Delta Hotels on July 1, 2013, and place the property, by then known as Delta Chelsea Toronto, under the control of its subsidiary, Langham Hospitality Group in their Eaton Hotels division, which has since been rebranded as Eaton Workshop Hotels.
