The View (band)
The View are a Scottish indie rock band. They incorporate various styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, and folk in their music. They are best known for their 2007 single "Same Jeans" which reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The band have released five studio albums since their platinum selling debut ''Hats Off to the Buskers'', which topped the UK Albums Chart in January 2007 and was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. Despite never matching this early success, they enjoy a large fanbase in their native Scotland with albums regularly topping the Scottish Albums Chart. The band also hold a reputation for their live performances with regularly sold-out tours in Scotland. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Power pop (also typeset as powerpop) is a form of pop rock based on the early music of bands such as the Who, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Byrds. Cooking Vinyl is a British independent record label, based in Acton, London, England, founded in 1986 by former manager and booking agent Martin Goldschmidt and business partner Pete Lawrence. Mike Crossey
Mike Crossey (born 1979) is a Northern Irish record producer, songwriter, and mixing engineer. He produced the debut single by Arctic Monkeys, collaborating with them over two albums. He is known for his ongoing relationship with The 1975 in addition to productions with Jeremy Zucker, Twenty One Pilots, Walk the Moon, LANY, LAUV, Foals, Keane, Jake Bugg, The Gaslight Anthem, MUNA, Wolf Alice, Yungblud. Career Crossey started his career as a promoter of punk shows in Belfast before moving to Liverpool to complete his training at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. He remained in Liverpool, operating out of the Motor Museum, until 2012. During that period he produced some of the most critically acclaimed British indie acts. ''Ropewalk'' is the fifth studio album by Scottish indie rock band the View. It was released on 4 September 2015 through Cooking Vinyl. The album was produced by Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, and Gus Oberg, producer for the same band. Drew McConnell of Babyshambles introduced Kyle Falconer to the duo. The band chose to record the album at Clouds Hill studios, in Hamburg, Germany. Justin Gerrish, famous for his work with Vampire Weekend, produced the final mix in New York City. Reception Ropewalk received favourable reviews from critics. Metacritic gave the album a score of 74 out of 100, based on 4 critic reviews. "How Long" is the first single released by Dundee band The View from their fourth album ''Cheeky for a Reason''. The song was first announced by ''NME'' on 27 May 2012 as the first single to be released on The Views anticipated new album ''Cheeky for a Reason''. The song was officially made available for download from iTunes on 6 June 2012, a whole month before the anticipated release date. The music video for the song was released on 13 June 2012. The video, written and directed by Red and starring Martin Compston caused controversy in the media on its release, due to its assumed subject matter and further claims from one of the cast that the content for the video was never disclosed to her. However, the bands management, record label and producers of the video later proved that all cast were given a detailed treatment, that disclosed the concept of the video prior to filming. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
