Alfred Edward Robie Farmer Cheatle (Born Dosthill, Staffordshire 15 January 1871 - 29 November 1941 Woodleigh Nursing Home, Wylde Green) was an architect based in Birmingham. Life and career Cheatle was the son of Thomas Farmer Cheatle (1840-1918) and Mary Sarsons (b. 1838). He entered into a partnership around 1891 with Thomas Walter Francis Newton as his partner, and until the death of Newton in 1903, they traded as Newton and Cheatle. Cheatle married Rhoda Beatrice Barker (1872-1956) on 22 May 1901 in Kingsbury, Warwickshire. They had two children, Godfrey Barker and Kathleen Thelma. Arthur Henry Cheatle CBE (4 December 1866 – 11 May 1929) was an English surgeon who made important contributions to understanding of the anatomy and diseases of the mastoid region. Early life and education Arthur Henry Cheatle was born on 4 December 1866. He was a descendant of the parliamentarian William Lenthall. His family had settled in Burford, Oxfordshire in 1819. His father, George Cheatle, was a solicitor. His elder brother was Sir George Lenthal Cheatle, who also became a surgeon. Arthur Henry attended Merchant Taylor's School from 1876 to 1882, then studied at King's College Hospital and in Vienna. He suffered from a hearing defect that gradually became more acute, although it was not particularly noticeable to others. Sir George Lenthal Cheatle, (13 June 1865 – 2 January 1951) was a British surgeon who made important contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Birth and education George Lenthal Cheatle was born on 13 June 1865 in Belvedere, Kent, England. He was the eldest son of George Cheatle of Burford, Oxfordshire, and Mary Anne Cheatle, daughter of James Allen of Dartford Kent. His father was a solicitor. Robert Giles Lenthall Cheatle (born 31 July 1953) is a former English cricketer. Cheatle was a left-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox. He was born at Paddington, London and is the father of Australian cricketer Lauren Cheatle. Syd Cheatle (born 6 January 1936) was an Irish architect and writer born in Dublin. His father was Jack Cheatle, who was leader of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra while his mother was Aileen Foley, a cellist from Skibbereen. Syd attended Castleknock College before going to Dublin Institute of Technology to study architecture. After training he left Ireland to start his career as a writer.
