Chasen's was a famous restaurant frequented by film stars, entertainers, politicians and other dignitaries in West Hollywood, California, located at 9039 Beverly Boulevard on the border of Beverly Hills. It opened for business in 1936 and was the site of the Academy Awards party for many years. It was also famous for its chili. Elizabeth Taylor had several orders of Chasen's chili flown to the set of ''Cleopatra'' in 1963 while filming in Rome, and to Oroville, California during the filming of ''The Klansman'' in 1974. Many of the restaurant's regular customers had booths named in their honor. The Ronald Reagan booth is now on display at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and was where Reagan proposed to his actress wife Nancy Davis. Well-known celebrities with their own booths included Frank Sinatra, Alfred Hitchcock, James Stewart, and Groucho Marx. Joe Cook (actor)
Joe Cook (born Joseph Lopez; March 29, 1890 – May 15, 1959) was an American vaudeville performer. A household name in the 1920s and 1930s, Cook was one of America's most popular entertainers, and he headlined at New York's famed Palace Theatre. After appearing on Broadway he broke into radio. Early life Born Joseph Lopez in Evansville, Indiana, in 1890, he and his elder brother Leo were orphaned and adopted by a distant relative, Mrs. Anna Cook, at the age of three and six, respectively. He lived in the back of the grocery store of his adoptive parents at the corner of Fourth and Oak in Evansville. ''Fine and Dandy'' is a musical comedy in two acts with a book by Donald Ogden Stewart, music by Kay Swift and lyrics by Paul James. It was produced on Broadway in 1930. Production Vaudeville performer Joe Cook commissioned Donald Ogden Stewart to write a musical comedy tailored to his own unique comic persona. Much of the book was improvised; the Playbill for the original Broadway production, after listing the credits for book, music and lyrics, adds "Many Nonsensical Moments Created by Joe Cook". ''Fantasia'' is a 1940 American animated musical anthology film produced and released by Walt Disney Productions, with story direction by Joe Grant and Dick Huemer and production supervision by Walt Disney and Ben Sharpsteen. Leopold Anthony Stokowski (18 April 1882 – 13 September 1977) was a British conductor.
