SDTV
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. CSC Media Group, formerly known as Chart Show Channels (CSC), was a British cable television broadcasting company. It was a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Television. The company dissolved on 27 November 2019. Background CSC Media Group was named after the now defunct UK music show ''The Chart Show'', which ran on ITV and Channel 4 for twelve years. CSC evolved from the original Chart Show production company Video Visuals, to Chart Show Channels, which was then acquired in 2007 by private equity group Veronis Suhler Stevenson. Trace Vault
Trace Vault (formerly Video Vault and The Vault) is a British free-to-air music channel owned by Trace Group. On 1 November 2019, the channel rebranded as Trace Vault following TRACE's takeover of Sony's music channels. The first song on the new TRACE Vault was "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by Soulja Boy Tell'em. History The network originally launched as a late night (3am to 6am) service called Video Vault on 12 March 2003. It was renamed The Vault on 16 July 2003 and increased hours to 8pm to 6am, then expanded to 24 hours a day on 17 September 2003. The channel played nostalgic music and classic pop from the 1960s onwards, occasionally featuring music videos and concert footage from as early as at least the 1950s. Trace Hits (formerly Chart Show TV and Trace Urban) is a British free-to-air music channel owned by Trace Group. History Chart Show TV launched on 16 September 2002 and initially consisted of several different charts, mimicking the format of the television show upon which it was based. However, many of these were dropped and the channel started showing music videos. The channel broadcast in 4:3 from its launch but switched to 16:9 on 4 February 2008. All of CSC Media Group's other music channels have also switched to 16:9 broadcasting. A new website for Chart Show TV is also under development since its sister channels have had new websites launched. On 5 January 2012, Chart Show TV +1 launched, replacing NME TV. The temporary channel was replaced by BuzMuzik on 30 May 2012.
