Charles Peete Rose Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American former television journalist and talk show host. From 1991 to 2017, he was the host and executive producer of the talk show '' Charlie Rose'' on PBS and Bloomberg LP. Rose also co-anchored ''CBS This Morning'' from 2012 to 2017 alongside Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. Rose formerly substituted for the anchor of the ''CBS Evening News''. Rose, along with Lara Logan, hosted the revived CBS classic ''Person to Person'', a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow. In November 2017, Rose was fired from CBS and PBS after ''The Washington Post'' published multiple in-house allegations of sexual harassment from the late 1990s to 2011. His employment at CBS was also terminated, and his eponymous show, ''Charlie Rose'', which used to air on PBS and Bloomberg, was cancelled. Charles Henry Rose
Charles Henry Rose (November 4, 1873 – January 15, 1948) was Sheriff of the Honolulu Police Department (modern equivalent to Chief of Police). Early life Charles Henry Rose was born on November 4, 1873, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Charles Henry Rose and Mary A. Sylva. He attended Saint Louis School. In 1889 Rose began work at Wilder Steamship Company as an office boy and moved up to passenger agent. He married Rosie M. Senna in 1899. Police In 1907 Rose was appointed by Sheriff Curtis P. Iaukea as Chief Clerk of the Honolulu Police Department. He was elected Deputy Sheriff in 1908 for two terms. Rose became Sheriff of Honolulu in 1914, appointed by Sheriff William P. Jarrett to succeed him between elections, while Jarrett was promoted to High Sheriff of the Territory of Hawaii. Charles Martin Roser (November 16, 1864 – April 12, 1937), also known as C. M. Roser, was an Ohio food maker, Florida real estate developer and philanthropist. He was born in Elyria, Ohio and died in St. Petersburg, Florida. Early career in Ohio Charles Roser had part interest in a cheese business in Wellington, Ohio, before he went into the business of making candy and cookies in Kenton, Ohio. The cookie business became part of what is now Nabisco in the 1890s. Roser is credited by some with having invented the Fig Newton (actually a pastry) or at least the process or machinery to make it, but Nabisco has never acknowledged these claims. In any event Roser left his cookie business a very rich man. Elizabeth Rose Charlie (born 9 May 1930) is a Sts'Ailes chief and Indigenous leader. Early life Charlie was born on the Chehalis reserve but moved with her family to Bainbridge Island in Washington state when she was 11 years old. In 1949, she married a man from Chehalis and moved back to the reserve. Career Charlie became a member of the first Indian Homemakers Club in BC started in 1950 in Chehalis, and she later served as president of the Vancouver chapter. Although these clubs began, officially, as a home-cooking and sewing clubs, some grew increasingly political and vocal. After the small amount of government funding was cut off, Charlie helped merge the many existing Homemakers Clubs into a large Indian Homemakers’ Association (IHA) of British Columbia in May 1969. She became the organization's first president, and continued in that role for 28 years. Peter Edward Rose Sr. (born April 14, 1941), also known by his nickname "Charlie Hustle", is an American former professional baseball player and manager. Rose played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1963 to 1986, most prominently as a member of the Cincinnati Reds team known as the Big Red Machine for their dominance of the National League in the 1970s. Charles Rose (born 1960 in New York City) is an American architect. Early and personal life Rose is one of five children raised by Waldorf schoolteachers in Garden City, Long Island. He attended the Waldorf School of Garden City from K-12 and pursued study of piano in New York at the Manhattan School of Music prior to college. He enrolled at Princeton University as a scholarship student and physics major but soon switched to architecture. He has lived in Boston since attending the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. Works Rose earned degrees in architecture at Princeton University and Harvard's Graduate School of Design, studying under Michael Graves and Rafael Moneo. Charles Rose (died 1791) was an Episcopalian clergyman who served in the Scottish Episcopal Church as the Bishop of Dunblane (1774–1791) and Bishop of Dunkeld (1776–1786). A tug of war competition was held August 31 and September 1 at Francis Field in St. Louis, Missouri, as part of the 1904 Summer Olympics. Thirty athletes participated from six teams across three countries, and six games were played. Four American teams took the top four places, followed by Greek and South African teams unplaced. Background Tug of war was first held during the 1900 Olympics, when it was won by a mixed team from Scandinavia, featuring three Danish and three Swedish athletes.
