Charlie Green (American Football)
Charles H. Green (born March 14, 1943) is a former American football quarterback who played college football at Wittenberg University. From 1962 to 1964, he led Wittenberg to three consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championships and three consecutive undefeated seasons (25–0–1), including an Associated Press small college national championship in 1964. After the 1964 season, he was selected as the first-team quarterback on the Little All-America team. He also played professional football for the Oakland Raiders in 1966. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002. Early years Green grew up in West Milton, Ohio, located northwest of Dayton. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. The 1962 Wittenberg Tigers football team was an American football team that represented Wittenberg University in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) during the 1962 NCAA College Division football season. In their eighth year under head coach Bill Edwards, the Tigers compiled a perfect 9–0 record and won the OAC championship.
