Charlie Chan At Monte Carlo
''Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo'' is a 1937 American movie directed by Eugene Forde. The main character is Charlie Chan, a Chinese-Hawaiian detective. This was the sixteenth and final Charlie Chan film with Warner Oland portraying Chan. The film features Keye Luke as Charlie's son Lee and character actor Harold Huber as a French police inspector. Warner Oland contracted bronchial pneumonia during his visit to Sweden and died there on August 6, 1938, at age 57. The series continued at Fox for another eleven entries with Sidney Toler. In 1942 Fox sold it to Monogram Pictures, and it continued on even after Toler's death in 1947 with Roland Winters in the role through six films into 1949. Robert Kent (born Douglas Blackley, Jr.; December 3, 1908 – May 4, 1955), was an American film actor. His career included starring roles in several film serials of the 1940s, including ''The Phantom Creeps'', '' Who's Guilty?'', and '' The Phantom Rider''. He also had a role in the 1938 film ''The Gladiator'' and was Virginia Vale's leading man in '' Blonde Comet'', a 1941 movie about a female racing driver. He married actress Astrid Allwyn in Tijuana, Mexico, on January 10, 1937, and they were divorced in 1941. He had three children: Kristina, Susan, and Kim Louise. Leo White
Leo White (November 10, 1882 – September 20, 1948), Leo Weiss, was a German-born British-American film and stage actor who appeared as a character actor in many Charlie Chaplin films. Biography Born in Germany, White grew up in England where he began his stage career. He was brought to the United States under the aegis of Daniel Frohman, a Broadway producer. He started his film career in 1911 and in 1913 moved to the Essanay Studios. In 1915, he began appearing in Chaplin's comedies and continued through Chaplin's Mutual Film comedies. His last appearance in a Chaplin film was a small role in ''The Great Dictator'', released in 1940. White also acted in and directed '' Triple Trouble'' (1918), Essanay's last Chaplin release. Eugene Borden (born Élysée Eugène Prieur-Bardin, March 21, 1897 – July 2, 1971) was an American character actor in silent and sound films. Born in France, he immigrated to the United States as a teenager, and entered the film industry a short time later. He appeared in over 150 films, as well as shorts, serials, and television shows. Life and career Born in Paris, France, on March 21, 1897, Borden immigrated to the United States in 1914 at the age of 17. By 1917 he had entered the film industry, appearing in a featured role in Christy Cabanne's ''The Slacker''.
