Charles Stourton, 21st Baron Stourton, 25th Baron Segrave, 24th Baron Mowbray (23 May 1867 – 29 July 1936) was the son of Alfred Joseph Stourton, 20th Baron Stourton, 24th Baron Segrave and 23rd Baron Mowbray and Mary Margaret Corbally, daughter of Matthew Corbally MP, of Corbalton Hall, County Meath, Ireland, and the Hon. Matilda Margaret Preston. He married Mary Constable in 1893. Alfred Stourton, 23rd Baron Mowbray
Alfred Joseph Stourton, 20th Baron Stourton, 24th Baron Segrave, 23rd Baron Mowbray (28 February 1829 – 18 April 1893) was the son of the nineteenth Baron Stourton and Mary Lucy Clifford, daughter of the 6th Baron Clifford of Chudleigh and his wife Eleanor Mary Arundell. By virtue of being descended from a co-heiress of the baronies of Mowbray and Segrave, Alfred had these baronies called out of abeyance in 1878. He married Mary Margaret Corbally in 1865. She was the only child of the Irish politician Matthew Corbally MP of Corbalton Hall, County Meath and the Hon. Matilda Margaret Preston, daughter of the 12th Viscount Gormanston. Matthew Corbally
Matthew Elias Corbally (April 1797 – 25 November 1870) was an Irish Liberal, Whig and Independent Irish Party politician. Family Corbally was the son of Elias Corbally and Mary née Keogh. He married Matilda Margaret Preston, daughter of Jenico Preston, 12th Viscount Gormanston (1775–1860) and Margaret Southwell, in 1842. They had one child, Mary Margaret Corbally (1845–1925), who married Alfred Stourton, Baron Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton and had ten children. They lived at Corbalton Hall in County Meath. Corbally and his wife are buried in a sealed vault at Saint Colmcille's Church, Skryne. Education He was educated by Rev. Richard Norris in Drogheda, and then at Trinity College Dublin. Political career Corbally was first elected unopposed as a Whig-Radical MP for Meath at a by-election in 1840 but he did not stand for re-election at the next general election in 1841. County Meath (; gle, Contae na Mí or simply ) is a county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Baron Mowbray
Baron Mowbray is a title in the Peerage of England. It was created by writ for Roger de Mowbray in 1283. The title was united with the Barony of Segrave in 1368, when John Mowbray, 1st Earl of Nottingham and 5th Baron Mowbray succeeded to that title, and in the next generation, the Baron Mowbray was named Duke of Norfolk. With the childless death of Anne Mowbray, 8th Countess of Norfolk in c.1481, the Barony went into abeyance between the Howard and Berkeley families, and both styled themselves Baron Mowbray and Seagrave.George E. Baron Segrave
Baron Segrave (Seagrave) is a title in the Peerage of England. It was created by writ in 1283 for Nicholas de Segrave, and the title is drawn from a village in Leicestershire now spelled Seagrave. The 6th Baron Segrave had previously succeeded to the title of Baron Mowbray, and thereafter, the two baronies have remained united, apart from a period of about a hundred years. For several generations they were subsidiary titles of the Dukes of Norfolk, and in 1777, they both went into abeyance with the death of the 9th Duke of Norfolk. The second creation, by writ was for Nicholas de Segrave of Barton Segrave in the County of Northampton in 1295, becoming extinct on the death of his daughter Maud in 1335. In 1831, a new Barony of Segrave was granted to Colonel William Berkeley, later created first Earl FitzHardinge, but this creation became extinct when he died without an heir in 1857. Baron Stourton is a title in the Peerage of England, It was created by patent in 1448 for John Stourton. In 1878, the ancient barony of Mowbray was called out of abeyance in favour of the twentieth Baron Stourton. About two weeks later, the barony of Segrave was also called out of abeyance in his favour. Thereafter, the three baronies remained united. The formal title is Baron Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton.
