Charles Lodge Adamson
Charles Lodge Adamson (18 May 1906 – 18 November 1979) was an English first-class cricketer. Adamson was a right-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman. The son of Durham County Cricket Club, Durham cricketer and rugby union international Charlie Adamson, he was born in Haverton Hill, County Durham and educated at Durham School, where he represented the school cricket team. Adamson made his debut for Durham County Cricket Club, Durham against the Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire Second XI in the 1926 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties of English and Welsh cricket, minor counties cricket for Durham from 1926 to 1939, making 79 Minor Counties Championship appearances. Haverton Hill
Haverton Hill is an area within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and ceremonial county of County Durham, England. Once considered a part of Billingham, Haverton Hill was once a thriving industrial community which has suffered significant depopulation since the 1960s as a result of pollution. It is situated to the north of the River Tees, near Billingham. The A1046 is the main road linking to Stockton and the A19 in the west and Port Clarence and the A178 in the east. History In 1828 Haverton Hill was a small hamlet. The settlement along with adjoining, Port Clarence, grew as a result of the Clarence Railway opening in 1833. Robert Remnant, 2nd Baron Remnant
Robert John Farquharson Remnant, 2nd Baron Remnant MBE (29 March 1895 – 4 June 1967) was an English cricketer, active from 1920 to 1936. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler, he made three appearances in first-class cricket but was mostly associated with minor counties cricket. The son of James Remnant, 1st Baron Remnant, Remnant was born at Westminster, London. He was educated at Eton College and later attended Magdalen College, Oxford. Remnant served with the Royal Berkshire Regiment during the First World War, reaching the rank of major. He made his debut in minor counties cricket for Berkshire following the war in 1920 against Hertfordshire at Watford. He played regularly for Berkshire throughout the 1920s, and in 1931 he was selected to play in first-class match for a combined Minor Counties cricket team against the touring New Zealanders at Gainsborough. Hampshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Hampshire. The 1899 British Isles tour to Australia was the fourth rugby union tour by a British Isles team and the second to Australia; though the first tour in 1888 was a private venture, making the 1899 tour the first official undertaking of Australia. It is retrospectively classed as one of the British Lions tours, as the Lions naming convention was not adopted until 1950. Negotiations had also taken place for the tour to incorporate matches against New Zealand, either through a visit to New Zealand, or a New Zealand team to play in Australia. Norman Mitchell-Innes
Norman Stewart "Mandy" Mitchell-Innes (7 September 1914 – 28 December 2006) was an amateur cricketer for Somerset, who played in one Test match for England in 1935. Between 1931 and 1949 Mitchell-Innes played 132 first-class matches, appearing 69 times for Somerset, and 43 times for Oxford University. In these matches he scored 6,944 runs, including 13 centuries and a top score of 207. He was well-regarded for the grace of his batting, but his cricket career was limited by both hay fever and his overseas work commitments. Mitchell-Innes made his debut for Somerset while he was still a schoolboy at Sedbergh School in 1931. He subsequently went to Oxford University and appeared in the annual match against Cambridge in each of his four years. His total of 3,319 first-class runs is a record for the Oxford University team, and he is regarded as one of the best university cricketers ever.
