Charles L. Thompson and associates is an architectural group that was established in Arkansas since the late 1800s. It is now known as Cromwell Architects Engineers, Inc.. This article is about Thompson and associates' work as part of one architectural group, and its predecessor and descendant firms, including under names Charles L. Thompson, Thompson & Harding, Sanders & Ginocchio, and Thompson, Sanders and Ginocchio. The firm was the "most prolific architectural firm" practicing in Arkansas in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and produced more than 2,000 buildings. The architectural group used standard and custom designs that both led and evolved with changing architectural taste in Arkansas. The group built a wide range of types of works, including large public buildings, commercial buildings, mansions, and small houses. Boone County Courthouse (Arkansas)
The Boone County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Harrison, Arkansas. It is a two-story brick structure, designed by noted Arkansas architect Charles L. Thompson and built in 1907. It is Georgian Revival in style, with a hip roof above a course of dentil molding, and bands of cast stone that mark the floor levels of the building. It has a projecting gabled entry section, three bays wide, with brick pilasters separating the center entrance from the flanking windows. The gable end has a dentillated pediment, and has a bullseye window at the center. Tudor Revival Architecture
Tudor Revival architecture (also known as mock Tudor in the UK) first manifested itself in domestic architecture in the United Kingdom in the latter half of the 19th century. Based on revival of aspects that were perceived as Tudor architecture, in reality it usually took the style of English vernacular architecture of the Middle Ages that had survived into the Tudor period. Beyerlein House
The Beyerlein House is a historic house at 412 W. 14th St. in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. It is a 1½-story wood-frame structure, with a clipped-gable roof and a combination of weatherboard siding on the first floor, and half-timbered stucco in the gables. A porch projects from the right side of the front, with a low brick balcony and brick piers supporting squat posts, that support the gabled roof. The building's gables have exposed rafter tails in the Craftsman style. The house was built in 1917 to a design by Charles L. Thompson. Des Arc is a city on the White River in the Arkansas Delta, United States. It is the largest city in Prairie County, Arkansas, and the county seat for the county's northern district. Incorporated in 1854, Des Arc's position on the river has shaped its culture, history, and economy, beginning as a major lumber shipping port but leaving the city vulnerable to major floods in 1927 and 1937. The Bank of Carthage is a historic bank building at the junction of Arkansas Highway 229 and West Kelly Avenue in Carthage, Arkansas. The single-story brick building was designed by Charles L. Thompson in Classical Revival style and built in 1907. It is the only period commercial building in the small town. It is built out of salmon-colored brick, with a low parapet on its main facade.
