Chariots Of The Gods (film)
''Chariots of the Gods'' (german: Erinnerungen an die Zukunft) is a 1970 West German documentary film directed by Harald Reinl. It is based on Erich von Däniken's book ''Chariots of the Gods?'', a pseudoscientific book that theorizes extraterrestrials impacted early human life and evolution. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Synopsis The film begins by introducing the cargo cults established by South Pacific Natives after coming in contact with American planes in World War II. It claims that it is likely that all religions began in a similar fashion. The viewer is then presented with various ancient texts, architecture, and artwork. Some of these include the Bible, the Pyramids, the ''Epic of Gilgamesh'', and the Nazca Lines. Harald Reinl
Harald Reinl (8 July 1908 in Bad Ischl, Austria – 9 October 1986 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) was an Austrian film director. He is known for the films he made based on Edgar Wallace and Karl May books (see Karl May movies and Edgar Wallace movies) and also made mountain films, Heimatfilms, German war films and entries in such popular German film series as ''Dr. Mabuse'', ''Jerry Cotton'' and ''Kommissar X''. Reinl began his career as an extra in the mountain films of Arnold Fanck. He worked as screenwriter on the film '' Tiefland'' directed by and starring Leni Riefenstahl. Reinl's first movie as director was the mountain film ''Mountain Crystal'' (1949). He was Oscar nominated for his documentary feature '' Chariots of the Gods'' (1970). By the 1970s, he had semi-retired to the Canary Islands. Sunn Classic Pictures, also known as Sunn International Pictures, Schick Sunn Classic Pictures, and Taft International Pictures was an independent U.S.-based film distributor, founded in 1971. The company was notable for family films and documentaries, and was purchased by Taft Broadcasting in 1980. History Sunn Classic was located in Park City, Utah, with offices in nearby Salt Lake City; its company name added an extra "n" to the word "Sun" to differentiate them from a publisher of pornographic books. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts.
