Bob Chappuis
Robert Richard Chappuis ( ; February 24, 1923 – June 14, 2012) was an American football player who played halfback and quarterback for the University of Michigan Wolverines in 1942, 1946, and 1947. His college years were interrupted by service in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Chappuis flew 21 missions as a radio operator and aerial gunner on B-25 bombers in the European Theater. His aircraft was shot down in February 1945 in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy. Chappuis parachuted from the plane before it crashed, and Italian partisans rescued him by hiding Chappuis and two other crew members for the final three months of the war. After the war, Chappuis returned to Michigan where he broke the Big Nine Conference record for total offense in 1946 and then broke his own record in 1947. Charyl Yannis Chappuis ( th, ชาริล ยานนิส ชาปุย; born 12 January 1992) is a Thai professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Thai League 1 club Port. Early career Chappuis began his playing career with hometown club FC Kloten but soon moved on to SC YF Juventus, spending some time in their youth ranks. Eduardo Dibós Chappuis (22 June 1927 – 15 October 1973), called "Chachi", was a Peruvian racing driver and politician in the early 1970s. He was the mayor of Lima from 1970 to 1973. He was son of Eduardo Dibós Dammert. Dibós raced in the 1959 Daytona 500, the inaugural edition of the race. Eliane Chappuis (born 1978) is a model, actress, singer, and producer. She was born in Hollywood, to Swiss-French-Vietnamese parents. When six months old, her parents decided to raise her in Bern, Switzerland, where she spent her childhood with her siblings. At thirteen years of age she already played violin and performed under the conduct of Sir Yehudi Menuhin in the orchestra of the conservatory during his visits to Switzerland. James Chappuis
Louis Philibert Claude James Chappuis (born 10 November 1854 in Besançon; died 29 January 1934 in Paris) was a French chemist and physicist. Life Chappuis was the son of philosophy teacher Charles Chappuis (1822–1897, lived from 1845 to 1869 in Besançon) and Louise Lydie Berthot (died 1909), a granddaughter of Nicolas Berthot, a mathematician in Dijon. He attended schools in Besançon, Caen and Grenoble. He enrolled in the École normale supérieure (ENS) in Paris in 1874, then worked as a physics teacher at Montauban in 1877, and at Poitiers in 1878. He returned to Paris and was a Maître de conférences at the ENS from 1878 to 1882, passing the Agrégé in 1879. In 1881, he was appointed as Professor of Physics at the École centrale des arts et manufactures, and attained the doctoral degree in 1882 with a thesis on the spectroscopy of ozone. Jason Lamy-Chappuis (born September 9, 1986) is a Franco-American former ski jumper and cross-country skier who has represented France in Nordic combined ski events between 2002 and 2015, then in the 2017-18 season. Born in the United States, where he first began competing in skiing events, Chappuis moved with his family to France as a child. Prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics, he had seen success in a number of international competitions, including World Cup events. Liliane Chappuis (27 June 1955 in Fribourg – 25 June 2007) was a Swiss politician from the Canton of Fribourg and member of the Swiss National Council (1999–2003 and 2007). Chappuis was elected to the executive of the municipality of Corpataux-Magnedens in 1986. She was mayor of the village since 1996. From 1990 to 1999 was member of the cantonal parliament of Fribourg. In 1999, Chappuis was elected to the National Council on the list of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SPS/PSS). She was on the Council's Committee for Science, Education and Culture. Marie de Sales Chappuis, VHM (16 June 1793 in Soyhières, Canton of Bern (now Jura), Switzerland – 7 October 1875 in Troyes, Aube, France) was a Catholic nun and a spiritual leader in the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. She also co-founded the congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales along with Fr Louis Brisson. The cause for her canonization was introduced at Rome in 1897. She has since been declared Venerable. Paul Emile Chappuis
Paul Émile Chappuis (1816-1887) was a photographer, an inventor and manufacturer of daylight reflectors . Born in Paris 1816, Chappuis moved to London where he ran a photographic studio at 69 Fleet Street between 1859 and 1871. He also patented different types of light reflector, that would allow natural light into buildings that would otherwise require gaslights during daytime. He set up a company to manufacture reflectors in 1856 on the basis of his 1853 and 1855 patents for different types of reflector: myriastratic or diamond-shaped, silver fluted glass, argento-crystal, and luminarium reflector. He was declared bankrupt in 1859, and briefly imprisoned for debt. However his business recovered, and was reformed as a limited company in 1868. He died at Brixton on 20 May 1887 and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery. Chappuis' firm continued manufacturing reflectors in London until the factory was destroyed by bombing in 1943. Philippe Chappuis (born December 15, 1967), better known by his pen name Zep, is a Francophone Swiss cartoonist and illustrator. Zep is mostly known for his comics series ''Titeuf'' which he created in 1992, and has become since one of the most popular children's comics in French-speaking countries.
