Gareth Gates
Gareth Paul Gates (born 12 July 1984) is an English singer-songwriter and actor. He was the runner-up in the first series of the ITV talent show ''Pop Idol'' in 2002. As of 2008, Gates had sold over 3.5 million records in the UK. He is also known for having a stutter, and has talked about his speech impediment publicly. Gates used the McGuire Programme to manage his stutter and is now a speech coach with the programme. In 2009, Gates moved into musical theatre, playing the title role in the West End production of ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'' at the Adelphi Theatre. In 2009–2011, Gates completed an 18-month stint as Marius, initially in the touring production and then in the West End production of ''Les Misérables''. He also took the roles of Eddie in the musical ''Loserville'', Warner in ''Legally Blonde'' in 2012 and Dean in ''Boogie Nights the Musical in Concert'' in 2013. ''Pictures of the Other Side'' is the third studio album to have been released by British singer-songwriter and former ''Pop Idol'' runner-up, Gareth Gates. The album was released nearly four years after his second album, ''Go Your Own Way'', due to a change in record label, from Sony BMG to Universal. The album was produced entirely by Martin Terefe and production duo Kissing the Pink. Just two singles were released from the album: "Changes" and " Angel on My Shoulder". Kissing the Pink are an English new wave and synth-pop band that formed in London in 1980. The current members are lead singer and guitarist Nick Whitecross, keyboardist Jon Kingsley Hall, second keyboardist George Stewart, and guitarist Simon Aldridge. Former members include saxophonist Josephine Wells, violinist Peter Barnett, drummer Stevie Cusack, and vocalist Sylvia Griffin.
