Chandigarh Women's Cricket Team
The Chandigarh women's cricket team is a women's cricket team that represents the Indian union territory of Chandigarh. They played their first match in 1973, and joined the Indian domestic system in 2019–20, competing in the Women's Senior One Day Trophy and the Senior Women's T20 League. History Chandigarh Women played their first recorded match in 1973, against Punjab. They went on to play in the Senior National Women's Cricket Championship in 1986–87 and the Indira Priyadarshini Champions Trophy in 1993–94, but full results are not recorded. In 2019, the Union Territory Cricket Association, the governing body of cricket in Chandigarh, received affiliation from the BCCI, allowing Chandigarh to join the Indian women's domestic system. The Women's Senior One Day Trophy, previously known as the Senior Women's One Day League, is a women's List A cricket tournament held in India. It began in the 2006–07 season, with 24 teams representing state cricket associations, whilst the most recent season, 2022–23, had 37 teams competing. Railways have won the tournament 14 times, including the first and most recent season, whilst Delhi and Bengal have won the tournament once apiece. The 2019–20 Women's Senior One Day Trophy was the 14th edition of the women's List A cricket competition in India. It was scheduled to be played from 18 February to 20 March 2020 in a round-robin and knockout format. However, the tournament was ended after the round-robin stage due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the knockout stages cancelled. Chandigarh Cricket Team
The Chandigarh cricket team is a cricket team representing the Chandigarh, Union Territory of Chandigarh in Indian domestic competitions. In August 2019, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the team as one of the nine new sides that would compete in domestic tournaments for the 2019–20 season, including the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, Ranji Trophy. Former Indian cricketer, V. R. V. Singh, was named as the first coach of the team. Chandigarh made their debut in the Ranji Trophy in December 2019, in the Plate Division.
