Chance (1984 Film)
''Chance'' (russian: Шанс) is a 1984 science fiction comedy film directed by Aleksandr Mayorov based on the short story ''The Martian Potion'' from the cycle ''The Great Guslyar'' by Kir Bulychov. Plot In the middle of the 17th century, a Cossack named Almaz Bitiy saves an alien from a certain death. In gratitude, he gives the Earthman an elixir of youth. By constantly using the elixir, Almaz and his girlfriend Milica live until the 20th century. The time has come to regain youth, and Almaz returns to the city of Great Guslyar, where the secret means is kept. However, the mystery is revealed, and several residents of the city have the opportunity to experience the action of the "Martian Potion". Second youth gives new strength to life to some, while others get nothing but problems and troubles. Kir Bulychev (russian: Кир Булычёв [Kir Bulychyov]; 18 October 1934 – 5 September 2003) is a pen name of Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko (И́горь Все́володович Може́йко), a USSR, Soviet Russian science fiction writer, critic, translator and historian. His Masterpiece, magnum opus is a children's science fiction series ''Alisa Selezneva'', although most of his books are adult-oriented. His books were adapted for film, TV and animation over 20 times – more than any other Russian science fiction author – and Bulychev himself wrote scripts for early adaptations. Biography Mozheiko (Mojeiko) received a Master's degree in 1965 and a Ph.D. in 1981. From 1963 he worked in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was a specialist in the medieval history of Burma, and wrote a biography of Aung San. Lyudmila Ivanovna Ivanova (russian: Людмила Ивановна Иванова; 22 June 1933 – 7 October 2016) was a Soviet and Russian film and stage actress, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1989). She was awarded the Order of Honour and the Order of Friendship. She composed many songs for the guitar. Biography Ivanova was born on 22 June 1933 in Moscow. She graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1955 and was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow mobile drama. In 1957, Ivanova entered the Sovremennik Theatre.
