Chalk FarM (band)
Chalk FarM is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles. Overview Original years The band released two albums in the late 1990s and are best known for their song "Lie On Lie", which was played for a short time on MTV in late 1996 and received radio airplay in the United States nationwide. Despite critical approval and a cult following, their debut album did not sell well, and the band was dropped from major label Columbia Records soon thereafter. The band broke up in 2000. Among the musicians the group opened for were Joe Walsh and Seal. Chalk farM also appear as the band playing at the conclusion of the film '' Coyote Ugly''. Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel (born 19 February 1963), known professionally as Seal, is a British singer. He has sold over 20 million records worldwide. These include hit songs "Crazy" and "Killer", the latter of which went to number one in the UK, and his most celebrated song, "Kiss from a Rose", which was released in 1994. ''Notwithstanding'' is the debut album by the American band Chalk FarM, released in 1996. The singles "Lie on Lie" and "Live Tomorrow" charted on ''Billboards Mainstream Rock (chart), Mainstream Rock chart, at No. 13 and No. 35, respectively. The band supported the album by touring with Better Than Ezra and Tonic (band), Tonic, among others. Production The album was produced by Matt Hyde, who recorded the band after hearing their 4-song demo. All four band members contributed to the songwriting, which often aspired to U2-esque songs about social problems and universal themes. The title of the album is a reference to the legal argot that kept appearing in Chalk FarM's recording contract. The album contains a hidden track, which begins three minutes after "Sunflower". Joseph Fidler Walsh (born November 20, 1947) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In a career spanning over five decades, he has been a member of three successful rock bands: the James Gang, Eagles, and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. He was also part of the New Zealand band Herbs. In the 1990s, he was a member of the short-lived supergroup The Best. Walsh has also experienced success both as a solo artist and as a prolific session musician, being featured on a wide array of other artists' recordings. 50FOOTWAVE is an American alternative rock band, formed in 2003. The band is fronted by Kristin Hersh, who writes the group's songs with collaborative efforts from the other group members in composing and arranging the music. The group's name is a reference to both an illustration and the term for the 50-foot sound wave of the lowest F tone audible to the human ear.
