''Chakin is a compilation album by Shit and Shine, released on 10 February 2015 by Astral Spirits. The album comprises improvised jazz sessions recorded for Clouse's Tuesday Jazz Chat on YouTube. The music is comparable to Sun Ra and Bitches Brew-era Miles Davis. Release and reception The vinyl pressing was limited to four-hundred and seven copies, with five unique sleeve illustrations: Green background print, limited to one-hundred and forty-nine copies. Green/grey background print, limited to three copies. Green/yellow background print, limited to eight copies. Grey background print, limited to ninety-nine copies. Yellow background print, limited to one-hundred and forty-eight copies. It made seventh place on The Vinyl Factory's "The 10 Most Collectable Records of 2015" end of the year list, with the columnist saying, "the concept is charmingly shambolic, somewhat random and wonderfully egalitarian." Shit And Shine
Shit and Shine is an experimental music project based in Austin, Texas. Formed in 2004 by bandleader Craig Clouse, its percussion-driven sound mixes noise with electronics. Clouse is the only consistent member, with an ever-rotating line-up of musicians. History The project was picked up by the Riot Season label, who issued their debut '' You're Lucky to Have Friends Like Us'' in 2004. The band's second album, titled ''Ladybird'', was released in 2005 and contained a lengthy forty-two minute improvisation built on a repetitive drum rhythm, which critics compared to Velvet Underground's 1967 composition "Sister Ray". The album '' Jealous of Shit and Shine'' followed in 2006 and continued to explore terrifying soundscapes. In 2011, it was placed at number eighty-eight on '' NME's'' The 100 Greatest Albums You've Never Heard list. 2008's ''Cherry'' was the band's first full-length album in two years. Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (born 23 September 1971 in Oppdal, Norway) is a Norwegian double bass, bassist active in the jazz and free jazz genres. King Coffey
King Coffey (born Jeffrey Coffey; 1964) is an American drummer, known for being the drummer of the psychedelic/noise rock band Butthole Surfers. He began drumming in a Fort Worth hardcore punk band called The Hugh Beaumont Experience in high school. Around that same time, he also published a fanzine called ''Throbbing Cattle''. He saw the Butthole Surfers for the first time in 1982 at a time when Scott Matthews was their drummer. Coffey replaced him in 1983 and is still the band's official drummer. In 1990, Coffey founded the independent record label Trance Syndicate, and released records by primarily Texas-based artists, including his band Drain. In 1995, he co-founded the Emperor Jones record label with his husband Craig Stewart.
