''Cha Cha de Amor'' is an album consisting of the last tracks recorded by Dean Martin for Capitol Records, released in 1962. After recording these sessions, Martin joined Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records label. This album's songs were recorded between December 18 and December 20 of 1961. ''Cha Cha de Amor'' was released on November 5, 1962 (see 1962 in music). The backing orchestra was conducted and arranged by Nelson Riddle. The album consists of twelve songs built upon an "authentic Afro-Cuban rhythm section." Dean Martin
Dean Martin (born Dino Paul Crocetti; June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995) was an American singer, actor and comedian. One of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th century, Martin was nicknamed "The King of Cool". Martin gained his career breakthrough together with comedian Jerry Lewis, billed as Martin and Lewis, in 1946. They performed in nightclubs and later had numerous appearances on radio, television and in films. Following an acrimonious ending of the partnership in 1956, Martin pursued a solo career as a performer and actor. Nelson Riddle
Nelson Smock Riddle Jr. (June 1, 1921 – October 6, 1985) was an American arranger, composer, bandleader and orchestrator whose career stretched from the late 1940s to the mid-1980s. He worked with many world-famous vocalists at Capitol Records, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney and Keely Smith. Marcel Leopold Stellman (15 February 1925 – 2 May 2021) was a Belgian born British record producer and lyricist. Among the many artists who recorded Stellman’s songs are Cilla Black, Petula Clark, Charles Aznavour, The Shadows and Tony Bennett. In the UK he is best known as the man who brought the French show ''Des chiffres et des lettres'' to the UK as ''Countdown''. His pseudonyms as a lyricist include Gene Martyn and Leo Johns. Stellman was born in Antwerp, Belgium. His mother, Lily, was Scottish and his father, Willy Stellman, was Belgian. Maladie D'amour (song)
"Maladie d'Amour" (French: Love Sickness) is a popular folk tune of the French West Indies recorded for the first time in 1931 by Léona Gabriel but popularised in the arrangement by Henri Salvador published in 1949. The published lyrics of Marc Lanjean begin: "Maladie d’amour,/ Maladie des amoureux / Si tu n’aimes que moi / Reste tout près de moi". However Salvador himself often sang the song in French Creole with the lyrics "Maladi damour, Maladi dé zamoureu, Chacha si’w enmen-mwen, Wa maché dèyè-mwen", a tribute to a ''chacha'', meaning an older woman sweet on a younger man. Israel Melnikoff (September 22, 1902 – July 10, 1994), known professionally as Robert Mellin, was a Russian Empire-born American composer and lyricist and music publisher. Born in Kyiv and raised in Chicago, where his first job was music plugger at Remick Music. In the early 1940s he moved to New York, where he founded his own company in 1947. Moving to Europe in the early 1950s, Mellin wrote the music or lyrics for hundreds of songs, including several hits, over the next two decades. His biggest hit was ''My One and Only Love'' written with lyricist Guy Wood. Guy B. Wood (24 July 1911 – 23 February 2001) was a musician and songwriter born in Manchester, England. Wood started his career in music playing saxophone in dance bands in England. He moved to the United States in the 1930s, where he worked for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures as well as serving as bandleader at the Arcadia Ballroom in New York.
