Century Mile Racetrack And Casino
Century Mile Racetrack and Casino is a casino and horse racing facility in Leduc County, Alberta, next to the Edmonton International Airport. It is one of two "A-level" horse racing venues in the province of Alberta, and the only one-mile racetrack in western Canada. Century Mile opened on April 1, 2019, serving as the replacement for Northlands Park. Public transit to the facility is offered via Edmonton Transit Service route 747 to the airport, and Leduc Transit route 10 (connecting via Edmonton International Airport). It is one of two "A-level" horse racing venues in the province of Alberta and brought live horse racing back to the Calgary area for the first time since June 15, 2008. Century Downs offers live Standardbred races on weekends and holidays throughout the months of April to November. The casino features 550 slot machines, seven VLTs, and an Off-Track Betting area which simulcasts both Standardbred and Thoroughbred races from around the world. Northlands Coliseum is a now-unused indoor arena located in Edmonton, Alberta, situated on the north side of Northlands (organization), Northlands. It was used for sports events and concerts, and was home to the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association (WHA) and National Hockey League (NHL), and the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The arena opened in 1974, and was later known as Edmonton Coliseum, Skyreach Centre, and Rexall Place, before returning to the Northlands Coliseum name in summer 2016. Rogers Place is a multi-use indoor arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Construction started in March 2014, and the building officially opened on September 8, 2016. The arena has a seating capacity of 18,500 as a hockey venue and 20,734 as a concert venue. It replaced Northlands Coliseum (opened 1974) as the home of the National Hockey League, NHL's Edmonton Oilers and the Western Hockey League, WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings. Edmonton Northlands, operating as Northlands, was a non-profit volunteer organization in Edmonton, Alberta. The organization owned exhibition grounds in northeast Edmonton collectively known as the Edmonton Northlands, which included venues such as the Northlands Park raceway, the Edmonton Expo Centre, and Rexall Place–the former home of the Edmonton Oilers. The organization also hosted the annual exhibition K-Days, and the agricultural show Farmfair International.
