Brampton Centennial Secondary School (BCSS) is a state school, public high school located in Brampton, Ontario, Brampton, Ontario, Canada and is part of the Peel District School Board. In September 2008, BCSS had 1,775 students. History The first secondary school in Brampton opened in 1852 as Brampton High School with three students and its first principal A. Thompson. By 1888 it had an annual budget of $868.25. After a fire, the school building was reconstructed in 1977. Brampton Centennial Secondary School was built in 1967 — the Canadian Centennial year — to replace Brampton High School. School shooting On 28 May 1975 Michael Slobodian, a student at the school, brought two rifles to school with the intention of killing two particular teachers and himself. He opened fire, killing one of the teachers and one student, and wounding 13 students before shooting and killing himself. This was only the second school shooting in Canadian history. Centennial Secondary School (Coquitlam)
Centennial Secondary School is a high school located in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Established in 1967, the centennial year of Canadian Confederation, it is part of School District 43 Coquitlam. Centennial has approximately 1300 students and is structured on a semester system. In addition to academic programs, it offers special programs such as Football, Computer Game Design, Culinary Arts, Automotive Technology, and a Hockey Academy. History Centennial Secondary School was built in 1966, a year before the centennial of Canada's founding. It was completed one year after adjacent Vanier Elementary opened in 1965. Its running track was completed soon after on an empty grassy field. An additional activity centre and gymnasium were built on the southeast side of the school in 2003. Centennial Secondary School is a publicly funded high school in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. The school is part of the Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board. Centennial prides itself on its "Double A" rating, specializing in Arts, Academics and Athletics. The school is also recognized as the regional school for Visual and Performing Arts. As of the 2018-19 academic year, Centennial has an enrollment of 910 students. Facilities Centennial Secondary School was opened in 1967, and named as such because of Canada's centennial in the same year.
