The following is a list of census-designated places in Michigan. According to the United States Census Bureau, the U.S. state of Michigan listed 212 census-designated places (CDPs) used for statistical purposes at the 2020 census. In the state of Michigan, CDPs are also categorized as unincorporated communities and do not hold any legal autonomy as an incorporated municipality. Their boundaries and population counts are for statistical purposes only, and CDPs fall under the jurisdiction of the township(s) in which they are located. CDPs can span multiple townships and counties and be part of a civil township or charter township but cannot contain boundaries within incorporated municipalities, such as villages or cities. Boundaries for a CDP may change between a census. There are no minimum population requirements for an area to be designated as a CDP. Greater Galesburg, Michigan
Greater Galesburg was a census-designated place (CDP) in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan, surrounding the city of Galesburg. As a CDP, it used for statistical purposes and does not have any legal status as a municipality. The population was 1,631 at the 2000 census. The CDP was deleted and not reported in the 2010 census The CDP area included land in Comstock Charter Township on the west and Charleston Township on the east. Redford, officially the Charter Township of Redford, is a charter township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The township shares its eastern border with the city of Detroit. The population was 49,504 at the 2020 census. History Springwells Township and Bucklin Township were formally organized and laid out by gubernatorial act on April 12, 1827. Postal regulations prohibiting two post offices having the same name required—when a township was subdivided—unique names had to be found. The Bucklin name was extinguished when it was split on October 29, 1829, along what is now Inkster Road into Nankin Township (west half) and Pekin Township (east half), named as a result of a wave of interest in China. Harrison Charter Township is a charter township of Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 24,314 at the 2020 census. Grosse Ile Township is a civil township of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,777 at the 2020 census.
