Celtic Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Glasgow, which has regularly taken part in European competitions since its first appearance in the 1962–63 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Since then, the club has competed in every UEFA-organised competition, with the exception of the UEFA Super Cup and the defunct Intertoto Cup. The club became the first British team and only Scottish team to date to win the European Cup by defeating Inter Milan in the 1967 final. The team who defeated Inter at the final, held at the Estádio Nacional in Lisbon, have since become known as " The Lisbon Lions". During the 1960s, Celtic also reached the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup twice before reaching another European Cup final in 1970 where they lost 2–1 to Feyenoord after extra-time, then two further European Cup semi-finals in 1972 and 1974. 1970 European Cup Final
The 1970 European Cup Final was a football match held at the San Siro, Milan, on 6 May 1970, that saw Feijenoord of the Netherlands defeat Celtic of Scotland 2–1 after extra time. Ove Kindvall's goal in the 117th minute meant the trophy was won by a Dutch club for the first time. It remains Feyenoord's only European Cup triumph. For losing finalists Celtic, this marked the second – and to date most recent – European Cup Final appearance in club history, after the famous win by the "Lisbon Lions" side in the 1967 edition. Gabriel Hanot (6 November 1889 – 10 August 1968) was a French footballer and journalist (the editor of ''L'Équipe''). The European Cup – which became the UEFA Champions League – was the brainchild of Hanot, as was the Ballon d'Or, an award that honours the male player deemed to have performed the best over the previous year. Biography He made 12 appearances for the France national football team, with his debut coming on 8 March 1908 against Switzerland. Edward Henrik Larsson (born 20 September 1971) is a Swedish professional football coach and former player, formerly an assistant manager of Barcelona. Playing as a striker, Larsson began his career with Högaborgs BK. In 1992, he moved to Helsingborg IF where in his first season his partnership up front with Mats Magnusson helped the club win promotion to Allsvenskan after 24 seasons in the lower tiers. Scott Brown (born 25 June 1985) is a Scottish professional football manager and former player who is the current manager of League One side Fleetwood Town. A former midfielder, he is widely known for his 14-year tenure with Celtic, where he was club captain for 11 years and won ten Scottish league championships. Brown started his career with Hibernian, breaking into their first team in 2002. After Extra Time
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a Draw (tie), tie or draw where the scores are the same.
