Cecil Thomas (9 September 1926 – 1 September 1996) was a Guyanese cricketer, cricket administrator, and radio personality who hosted a programme called ''Sports Action Line''. Cecil Thomas (journalist)
Cecil Thomas (1883 – 26 October 1960) was a British newspaper editor. Born in Newton-in-the-Isle in Cambridgeshire, Thomas was the younger brother of colonial administrator Shenton Thomas. Cecil became a journalist in 1908, and joined the ''Daily Mirror'' in 1910. In 1934, Thomas was appointed as editor of the ''Mirror''. He served during World War II, during which he became known for writing lengthy letters in the paper, described life at its headquarters. In 1942, he was called to the Home Office by Herbert Morrison, and threatened that the paper could be closed if it continued to publish articles considered detrimental to the war effort. He retired in 1948. In his obituary in ''The Times ''The Times'' is a British daily national newspaper based in London. Cecil Thomas (politician)
Cecil L. Thomas (born October 21, 1952) is an American politician and former law enforcement officer who served as a member of the Ohio Senate from the 9th district. Early life and education Thomas was born in rural northern Alabama and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at a young age. He graduated from Withrow High School. In 1974, Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement technology from the University of Cincinnati. He later earned another Bachelor of Science degree, in criminal justice management, from the Union Institute & University. Career After high school, he joined the Cincinnati police cadet program, and served the city of Cincinnati as a police officer for the next 27 years. In 2005, following his retirement from the police force, Thomas ran and won election to Cincinnati City Council, where he served for the next eight years. Cecil Thomas (sculptor)
Cecil Walter Thomas, FRBS, (3 March 1885 – 16 September 1976) was a British sculptor and medallist. As a sculptor, he created many private memorials for display in churches and cemeteries and as a medallist was regularly commissioned by the Royal Mint. Early career Thomas was born in the Shepherd's Bush area of London to John Thomas, a seal engraver, and Alice Sophia Thomas (née Ings). As a teenager, Cecil became an apprentice in his father's practice and continued working for his father while studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, Heatherley School of Fine Art, and the Central School of Arts and Crafts. In his early career, he specialised in gem engraving, receiving commissions from all over the world, including several from the House of Fabergé. Nonetheless, his work in creating cameo portraits inspired his interest in medals and coins; he was one of the few artists to engrave directly into the die.
