Caymanian General Election, 2013
General elections were held in the Cayman Islands on 22 May 2013. The incumbent United Democratic Party (UDP) government fell on a motion of non-confidence in December 2012 and was replaced by an interim government made up of former UDP members who formed the People's National Alliance (PNA). The main competition in the election was between the People's Progressive Movement (Progressives) and the UDP, with the PNA and a new political group the Coalition for Cayman (C4C) presenting an insufficient number of candidates to win a majority government. The Progressives won half of the seats (9), with the UDP and C4C taking 3 each, and outgoing Premier of the Cayman Islands Juliana O'Connor-Connolly holding the only seat for the PNA. West Bay, Cayman Islands
West Bay is a district located on the west side of Grand Cayman Island in the British West Indies. The population is 15,335. West Bay is a residential area located north of Grand Cayman's tourist-popular Seven Mile Beach. It is also a tourist area with destinations such as Hell, Cayman Turtle Farm, Cayman Motor Museum, and Dolphin Adventure. It is home to the Scholars International football club. Tara Rivers is a Caymanian politician, currently the Minister of Financial Services and Home Affairs, and previously the Minister of Education. Career At the age of 15, she received a scholarship from United World Colleges. She attended Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where she studied psychology. Rivers then went to York University in Toronto, Ontario, where she earned a degree in law at Osgoode Hall Law School and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Schulich School of Business. Darwin Kurt Tibbetts, OBE (born 2 March 1954) is a Caymanian politician and former Leader of Government Business in the Cayman Islands. Tibbetts served as leader of the People's Progressive Movement party from August 2002 – February 2011. Tibbetts served as an elected member for the district of George Town, serving six terms in the Legislative Assembly of the Cayman Islands. Early life Tibbetts was born in Jamaica for medical reasons.
