Caupedactylus Ybaka
''Caupedactylus'' is an extinct genus of tapejarid azhdarchoid pterosaur known from the Early Cretaceous period (Albian stage) of what is now the Romualdo Formation of the Araripe Basin in northeastern Brazil. The type and only species of ''Caupedactylus'' is ''Caupedactylus ybaka''. Discovery and naming The genus was first named and described by Alexander Wilhelm Armin Kellner in 2013. The type species is ''Caupedactylus ybaka''. The generic name combines the goddess of beauty of the Tupi, Caupe, with a Greek δάκτυλος, ''daktylos'', "finger", a usual suffix in the names of pterosaurs. The specific name ''ybaka'' means "dwelling in the sky" in the local Tupinambá. ''Caupedactylus'' is known from the holotype specimen MN 4726-V, probably found in the Araripe basin in a layer of the Romualdo Formation dating from the Albian, about 110 million years old. Chaoyangopteridae (or chaoyangopterids) is a family of pterosaurs within the larger group Azhdarchoidea. Chaoyangopterids lived mostly during the Early Cretaceous period, though possible members, ''Microtuban'', '' Xericeps'' and ''Argentinadraco'', may extend the fossil range to the Late Cretaceous. Azhdarchidae (from the Persian word , , a dragon-like creature in Persian mythology) is a family of pterosaurs known primarily from the Late Cretaceous Period, though an isolated vertebra apparently from an azhdarchid is known from the Early Cretaceous as well (late Berriasian age, about 140 million years ago). Azhdarchoidea
Azhdarchoidea (or azhdarchoids) is a group of pterosaurs within the suborder Pterodactyloidea, more specifically within the group Ornithocheiroidea. Pterosaurs belonging to this group lived throughout the Early Cretaceous, Early and Late Cretaceous periods, with one tentative member, ''Tendaguripterus'', that lived in the Late Jurassic period.
