Shante Scott Franklin (born April 4, 1981), better known by his stage name Currensy (often stylized as Curren$y), is an American rapper. In 2011, he founded the label Jet Life Recordings. Music career 2002–2008: No Limit and Young Money In 2002, Currensy was signed to Master P's No Limit Records and was a late addition to the 504 Boyz. The song "Get Back" by 504 Boyz, produced by Donald XL Robertson, was featured on the 2003 film ''Malibu's Most Wanted'' soundtrack. Currensy appeared on 5 songs in Master P's '' Good Side, Bad Side'' album. Even though he was signed with No Limit, he represented C-Murder's TRU label. Currensy has several songs with C-Murder, and was featured on the late Soulja Slim's album, ''Years Later'' (2002). In 2004, Currensy signed with Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment. ''Canal Street Confidential'' is the eighth studio album by American rapper Curren$y. The album was released on December 4, 2015, by Jet Life Recordings and Atlantic Records. Singles On August 28, 2015 the album's first single "Bottom of the Bottle" featuring August Alsina and Lil Wayne was released. On October 30, 2015, the official music video was released. Critical reception ''Canal Street Confidential'' was met with mixed reviews from music critics. David Jeffries of AllMusic said, "It's another lark from a man who has taken plenty of them before, and while some may look to his major-label efforts for the more well-rounded LPs, they can check the ''Pilot Talk'' series for that kind of breadth, and appreciate ''Canal Street Confidential'' for the sharp and well-executed idea that it is." Mixtape
A mixtape (alternatively mix-tape, mix tape or mixed tape) is a compilation of music, typically from multiple sources, recorded onto a medium. With origins in the 1980s, the term normally describes a homemade compilation of music onto a cassette tape, CD, or digital playlist. The songs are either ordered sequentially or made into a continuous programme by beatmatching the songs and creating seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits.
