Catalan Workers Bloc
Catalan Workers Bloc ( ca, Bloc Català dels Treballadors) was a political party in Catalonia, Spain. Formed in 1978 through the merger of the Party of Labour of Catalonia (PTC) and the Marxist Unification Movement (MUM). BCT participated in the National Liberation Left Bloc (BEAN) in the 1979 general elections. Left Nationalists ( ca, Nacionalistes d'Esquerra; NE, NdE or Nd'E) was a Catalan socialist and independentist political organization founded in 1979 from historical militants of the Socialist Party of National Liberation (PSAN), National Front of Catalonia, Catalan Communist Collective and independents linked to social movements. Left Bloc for National Liberation ( ca, Bloc d'Esquerra d'Alliberament Nacional, BEAN) was a coalition and, later, political party in Catalonia and Valencia, Spain. BEAN was an independentist and socialist party, that defended a Socialist Federal Republic of the Catalan Countries. History Formed in 1979 as a coalition between the Catalan Workers Bloc (BCT) and the Socialist Party of National Liberation (PSAN), along with some independents, like Lluís Maria Xirinacs. The 1979 Spanish local elections were held on Tuesday, 3 April 1979, to elect all 67,505 councillors in the 7,870 municipalities of Spain and all 1,152 seats in 43 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with local elections in the four foral deputations of the Basque Country and Navarre and the ten island councils in the Balearic and Canary Islands.
