Castle Peak (Alaska)
Castle Peak is a 10,190-foot (3110 meter) mountain summit located in the Wrangell Mountains, in the U.S. state of Alaska. The peak is situated in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, northwest of McCarthy, and south of Mount Blackburn on the south margin of the Kuskulana Glacier valley. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into Kuskulana River and Lakina River which are both tributaries of the Chitina River. The peak's descriptive name was used by early prospectors as reported in 1901 by the US Geological Survey. Climate Based on the Köppen climate classification, Castle Peak is located in a subarctic climate zone with long, cold, snowy winters, and cool summers. Winds coming off the Gulf of Alaska are forced upwards by the Wrangell Mountains (orographic lift), causing precipitation in the form of rainfall and snowfall. Castle Peak (California)
Castle Peak is a mountain in California's Sierra Nevada near I-80, Donner Pass, and the Nevada border. It is in the Tahoe National Forest not far off the Pacific Crest Trail, and adjacent to Castle Pass. It was originally named Mount Stanford by the Whitney Survey of 1860–74. Castle Peak takes its name from its conical shape. Climate According to the Köppen climate classification system, Castle Peak is located in an alpine climate zone. Most weather fronts originate in the Pacific Ocean and travel east toward the Sierra Nevada mountains. As fronts approach, they are forced upward by the peaks (orographic lift), causing them to drop their moisture in the form of rain or snowfall onto the range. Donner Pass averages of precipitation per year, and with an average of of snow per year, it is one of the snowiest places in the contiguous United States. Castle Peak is the ninth highest summit of the Rocky Mountains of North America and the U.S. state of Colorado. The prominent fourteener is the highest summit of the Elk Mountains and the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. Castle Peak () is a mountain in the western United States, the highest peak in the White Cloud Mountains of central Idaho and the Idaho Batholith. Located in Custer County, it is the 25th highest peak in the state, and the ninth most prominent. Castle Peak is within the Cecil D. Andrus–White Clouds Wilderness, which is part of Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Custer County. Castle Peak Beach
Castle Peak Beach () is a gazetted beach in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, beside Sam Shing Estate. It looks onto Castle Peak Bay and the Tuen Mun typhoon shelter, although it is separated from the typhoon shelter by a breakwater. The beach comprises 2.97 hectares and has a swimming zone of 0.8 hectares protected by a shark net. It was closed from 1981 to 2005 due to water pollution. In the summer months it is staffed by lifeguards of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). History Historically, the beach was known as Yung Lung Beach () and was a very attractive place for swimming. It was closed for swimming in 1981 due to poor water quality. Castle Peak Hospital is the oldest and largest psychiatric hospital in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. It has located at the east of Castle Peak in Tuen Mun, the hospital was established in 1961.
