Castellers De Sydney
Castellers de Sydney is a human tower organisation based on Sydney, Australia. Human towers is a Catalan tradition that started in the South of Catalonia 300 years ago. Traditionally there were teams only in Catalonia but recently other formations have been founded in other locations such as London, Chile, China, Paris, Melbourne, Sydney and others. Even though Castellers of Sydney have many Catalan members it also have members from different nationalities such as American, French, German, Australian among others. History Sydney human towers started their activity on 24 June 2016, building for the first time in Sydney a pillar of three, that consisted of three levels, one person on top of another. This was the first time the team performed in public, retaining this date as their anniversary. Castell
A ''castell'' () is a human tower built traditionally at festivals in Catalonia, the Balearic islands and the Valencian Community. At these festivals, several ''colles castelleres'' (teams that build towers) attempt to build and dismantle a tower's structure. On 16 November 2010, ''castells'' were declared by UNESCO to be amongst the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Origin Although based on the earlier traditional Muixeranga of Algemesí in Valencia, the tradition of ''castells'' within Catalonia originated in the ''Ball dels Valencians'' (Valencian Dance) in Valls, near the city of Tarragona, first documented in 1712. Catalan Tradition
There are quite a number of festivals and traditions in Catalonia (Spain). While most are of ancient origin, certain traditions are of relatively recent introduction. There are also some that are common to the whole Catalan society, but others are relevant only to a particular location. Generally, locals welcome outsiders to share with them in their celebration. Hyde Park, Sydney, is an urban park, of , located in the central business district of Sydney, in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia.
