Chris Noonan
Chris Noonan (born 14 November 1952) is an Australian Film director, filmmaker and actor. He is best known for the family film ''Babe (film), Babe'' (1995), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director and Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Biography Encouraged by his father, Noonan made his first short film, ''Could It Happen Here?'' set at North Sydney Boys High School when he was sixteen. It won a prize at the Sydney Film Festival and was later screened on Australian television. On leaving school in 1970 Noonan went to work for the Commonwealth Film Unit (now Film Australia), as a production assistant, assistant editor, production manager and assistant director making short films and documentaries. In 1973 Noonan was in the inaugural intake on the directors' course (along with Gillian Armstrong and Phillip Noyce) at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. Laura Jones (screenwriter)
Laura Jones (born 1951) is an Australian screenwriter. Jones started her career writing teleplays for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Her first feature film credit was the original screenplay for ''High Tide'' (1987), directed by Gillian Armstrong and starring Judy Davis. This was followed by her adaptation of the Janet Frame autobiography, ''An Angel at My Table'' (1990), which was directed by Jane Campion. She collaborated again with Campion, this time on ''The Portrait of a Lady'' (1996). The following years saw her team up with Armstrong on ''Oscar and Lucinda'', as well as work on other literary adaptations for Hollywood. Jones is a strong supporter of Australian filmmaking and during the 1990s served on the Australian Film Commission. She is the daughter of Australian author Jessica Anderson. Michele Fawdon (1947–2011) was an English-born Australian actress and singer. She is known for her roles in TV serials ''Matlock Police'' (1971–1974), ''The Unisexers'' (1975) and ''A Country Practice'' (1980, 1985, 1992).
