Carrington (crater)
Carrington is a lunar impact crater that is located just to the northeast of the crater Schumacher, in the northeastern part of the near side of the Moon. Carrington was named by the IAU in 1935. It lies in a stretch of rough terrain between two small lunar maria, with Lacus Temporis to the northwest and the smaller Lacus Spei to the east. Trafford Training Centre (usually referred to by the synecdoche of Carrington) is the training ground and academy headquarters of English football club Manchester United F.C. It is near the village of Carrington, Greater Manchester, England, and replaced The Cliff as the club's training ground in 2000. Construction on the complex began in 1999, the main building was opened and the first team moved in in 2000, followed in 2002 by the Academy facility, home to the club's renowned youth system. In 2013, major additions were completed at the complex, including a medical centre and sports science department. Viscount Carrington
Viscount Carrington, of Burford in the Province of Connaught, was a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1643 for Charles Smyth, 1st Baron Carrington of Wootton Wawen, Warwickshire. He had only a few days earlier been created Baron Carrington, of Wootton in the County of Warwick, in the Peerage of England. His eldest son, Francis Smith, the second Viscount, served as Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire from 1687 to 1689. He was succeeded by his younger brother, Charles Smith, the third Viscount. On his death in 1706 the titles became extinct. (This Smyth family was unrelated to the Smith (later Carington) family who became Barons Carrington of the second and third creations.) Baron Carrington is a title that has been created three times, once in the Peerage of England, once in the Peerage of Ireland and once in the Peerage of Great Britain. History The first creation came in the Peerage of England in 1643 in favour of Sir Charles Smyth, who became Baron Carrington of Wootton Wawen, Warwickshire. Only a few days later he was created Viscount Carrington in the Peerage of Ireland. He was succeeded by his two sons, but in 1706 the titles became extinct. For more information, see this title. The second creation came in 1796 when Robert Smith was created Baron Carrington, of Bulcot Lodge, in the Peerage of Ireland. He had earlier represented Nottingham in the House of Commons. Dora Carrington
Dora de Houghton Carrington (29 March 1893 – 11 March 1932), known generally as Carrington, was an English painter and decorative artist, remembered in part for her association with members of the Bloomsbury Group, especially the writer Lytton Strachey. From her time as an art student, she was known simply by her surname as she considered ''Dora'' to be "vulgar and sentimental". She was not well known as a painter during her lifetime, as she rarely exhibited and did not sign her work. She worked for a while at the Omega Workshops, and for the Hogarth Press, designing woodcuts. Early life Carrington was born in Hereford, England, to railway engineer Samuel Carrington, who worked for the East India Company, and Charlotte (née Houghton). The Durham Public Schools district is a public school district in Durham, North Carolina, Durham, North Carolina.
