Caroline Martens
Caroline Martens (born 27 December 1986) is a retired Norwegian professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour 2011–2018, and served as a vice-captain at the 2023 Solheim Cup. Amateur career Martens won the at the age of 12 and was named the 2003 Golfer of the Year in Norway. Martens was a student at between 2002 and 2005, and attended Louisiana State University between 2005 and 2009, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology. Playing four years on the LSU Lady Tigers team she had a career average of 76.6 for 109 total rounds. She made two appearances in the NCAA Division I women's golf championship, in 2006 and 2008. Professional career Martens turned professional in 2010 and joined the Swedish Golf Tour where she made all but one cut. Suzann Pettersen (born 7 April 1981) is a retired Norwegian professional golfer. She played mainly on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour, and was also a member of the Ladies European Tour. Her career best world ranking was second and she held that position several times, most recently from August 2011 until February 2012. She retired on 15 September 2019 after holing the winning putt for the European team at the 2019 Solheim Cup, notwithstanding that she had been away from golf for almost 20 months on maternity leave prior to the event. The 2009 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 7–11 July at Bled Golf & Country Club in Bled, Slovenia. It was the 27th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. European Ladies' Team Championship
The European Ladies' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1959. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format Currently, the championship is contested by up to 20 teams, each of 6 players. The format consists of two rounds of strokeplay, out of which the five lowest scores from each team's six players will count each day. The total addition of the five lowest scores will constitute the team's score and determine the teams qualified for the last three rounds of matchplay.
