Carina (Corrado Lojacono Song)
"Carina" is a 1958 hit song written by Italian singer Corrado Lojacono under the pseudonym of composer "R. Poes", to Italian lyrics by Alberto Testa. He recorded the song himself in 1958 as the B-side to "Brivido Blu", but the song became his most successful song as a songwriter. The sheet music carried the names of six other Italian male singers who immediately recorded versions including Fred Buscaglione, and internationally the song was recorded by Sophia Loren, Caterina Valente, Eddie Constantine, René Carol in Germany and Cliff Richard (on ''When in Rome''). Lojacono's own recording was re-released as an A-side in 1959. Corrado Lojacono
Corrado Lojacono (22 January 1924 – 23 October 2012) was an Italian singer, actor, record producer and songwriter. Life and career Born in Palermo, Lojacono moved to Milan with his family in 1931. He started performing in 1945, specializing in a jazz and swing repertoire. In the early 1950s he debuted as an actor appearing in two revues alongside Renato Rascel, ''Attanasio cavallo vanesio'' and ''Alvaro piuttosto corsaro''.Enzo Giannelli. Alberto Testa (11 April 1927 – 19 October 2009) was an Italian composer, lyricist, singer, and writer for television. Born at Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, he was known primarily for his work as a lyricist. His words were set by such songwriters as Tony Renis (such as "Quando, quando, quando" and " Grande grande grande") and Memo Remigi. Shirley Bassey and Mina are among the singers who performed his songs. He also wrote songs for such artists as Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, and Celine Dion (such as "The Prayer" and " I Hate You Then I Love You"). Ferdinando "Fred" Buscaglione (; 23 November 1921 – 3 February 1960) was an Italian singer and actor who became very popular in the late 1950s. His public persona – the character he played both in his songs and his movies – was of a humorous mobster with a penchant for whisky and women. Biography Ferdinando Buscaglione was born in Turin, Italy on 23 November 1921. The father was a painter and the mother a porter and piano teacher, both coming from Graglia, his great passion for music appeared at a very young age.
