Carcoar Railway Station
Carcoar railway station is a heritage-listed former railway station on the Blayney-Demondrille line, Carcoar, Blayney Shire, New South Wales, Australia. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The line to Carcoar was completed in 1888, when the station building and residence opened. Description The heritage complex includes a type 4 station building, built in the standard roadside design, that was built in 1886-87. The brick platform face, the station gates, and the station setting, including the forecourt, cutting, and station planting, are all part of the heritage listing. Heritage listing The station building and residence retain their built form with only minor alterations and removal of fabric. The position of the station on the side of the hill overlooking the town gives it a high prominence and visual importance in this historic town and landscape of the area. Blayney–Demondrille Railway Line
The Blayney–Demondrille railway line is a railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The line is used mainly for grain haulage and is owned by the Transport Asset Holding Entity, a government department of Transport for NSW. However, in 2004 the Australian Rail Track Corporation became responsible for operations over the line. The Lachlan Valley Railway operated heritage and tourist trains over the line, based at Cowra. It previously also operated general goods trains. From January 2012, the line was managed by John Holland Rail. Following flooding in 2011 between Cowra and Young, the line remains unusable for most of its length. Opening Approval was given by the New South Wales Government in April 1881 for the construction of the Blayney–Murrumburrah Railway. The line connects the Main West line at Blayney with the Main South Line at Demondrille, and passes through the towns of Cowra and Young. The New South Wales State Heritage Register, also known as NSW State Heritage Register, is a heritage list of places in the state of New South Wales, Australia, that are protected by New South Wales legislation, generally covered by the Heritage Act 1977 and its 2010 amendments. The register is administered by the Heritage Council of NSW via Heritage NSW, a division of the Government of New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment.
