John Vaughan, 1st Earl Of Carberry
John Vaughan, 1st Earl of Carbery (1574 or 1575 – 6 May 1634) was a Welsh courtier and politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1601 and from 1621 to 1622. He served Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, and later Prince Charles, heir to the throne of King James I. However, his career ended when the Prince acceded to the throne in 1625, and he later estimated that serving the Prince had cost him £20,000, which went unrecompensed. Matthew Carberry
Matthew C. Carberry (July 31, 1911 – May 1986) was the Sheriff of the City and County of San Francisco from 1956 to 1972. He was appointed by Mayor George Christopher after the death of Sheriff Daniel Gallagher. A moderate conservative, he was defeated in his bid for a fifth term by the more liberal Richard Hongisto in the fall of 1971. Josiah ( or ) or Yoshiyahu; la, Iosias was the 16th king of Judah (–609 BCE) who, according to the Hebrew Bible, instituted major religious reforms by removing official worship of gods other than Yahweh. Josiah is credited by most biblical scholars with having established or compiled important Hebrew scriptures during the "Deuteronomic reform" which probably occurred during his rule. Tommy Carberry
Tommy Carberry (15 September 1941 – 12 July 2017) was a Irish jockey who rode mostly in National Hunt races. He was Irish jump racing Champion Jockey four times. He is best known for winning the 1975 Grand National on L'Escargot. He rode a total of 16 Cheltenham Festival winners, including L'Escargot in the 1970 and 1971 Gold Cup and Ten Up in the 1975 Gold Cup. After retiring from race riding in 1982 he became a trainer and in 1999 saddled the winner of the Grand National, Bobbyjo. Career At the age of fifteen Carberry was apprenticed to trainer Jimmy Lenehan and rode his first winner on Ben Beoch in 1958. He went on to win the champion apprentice jockey title in 1959. He then moved to the yard of National Hunt trainer Dan Moore, where he remained as stable jockey for the rest of his career. Nina Carberry (born 19 July 1984) is a retired Irish female National Hunt jockey. She hails from a racing family and is the daughter of jockey Tommy Carberry. Career Carberry got her first Cheltenham Festival win in 2005 on Dabiroun in the Fred Winter Juvenile Novices' Handicap Hurdle. It was the first time in 18 years that a female jockey won a race at the Cheltenham Festival. In 2005/06, she became Irish Qualified Rider Champion for the first time and repeated the feat the next season. Michael Carberry is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Carberry played for Illawarra and South Sydney in the NSWRL competition. Playing career Carberry made his first grade debut for South Sydney against St George in Round 1 1980 at Kogarah Oval. Carberry played with Souths for 5 seasons before departing the club at the end of 1984. In 1985, Carberry signed with Illawarra and played with the club for a total of 6 seasons, 3 of which ended with the club finishing last and claiming the wooden spoon in 1985, 1986 and 1989. Michael Alexander Carberry (born 29 September 1980) is an English former professional cricketer who most recently played for Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Carberry is a left-handed opening batsman who bowls occasional right-arm off breaks. Carberry began his career at Surrey, during which time he also played for the Surrey Cricket Board. He played for Surrey from 2001 to 2002, before joining Kent. He played for Kent from 2003 to 2005, before becoming frustrated with his opportunities there. He left Kent at the close of the 2005 season, joined Hampshire for the 2006.
