Captain Fracassa's Journey
''Captain Fracassa's Journey'' ( it, Il viaggio di Capitan Fracassa) is a 1990 Italian comedy film directed by Ettore Scola. The film is based on the 1863 novel '' Captain Fracasse'' by Théophile Gautier. It was entered into the 41st Berlin International Film Festival. Plot The story takes place in France during 1600s. A ramshackle theater company of Commedia dell'arte (Comedy of Art) has to roam through the provinces, hoping to reach the court of Louis XIII. However, it often remains for days on a single place. In fact, a member of the company is seriously ill and so the actor who plays Punch (Troisi) tells how it all took place to a traveler who sees the bandwagon. The theater company recently was already going to visit the King of France that he might have better luck presenting their games and shows, but they ran into a storm. Ettore Scola
Ettore Scola (; 10 May 1931 – 19 January 2016) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. He received a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 1978 for his film ''A Special Day'' and over the course of his film career was nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Life and career Scola was born in Trevico, Avellino, Campania. From age 15, he became a ghostwriter. He entered the film industry as a screenwriter in 1953, and collaborated with director Dino Risi and fellow writer Ruggero Maccari on the screenplay for Risi's feature, ''Il Sorpasso'' (1962). He directed his first film, ''Let's Talk About Women'', in 1964. In 1974 Scola enjoyed international success with '' We All Loved Each Other So Much'' (''C'eravamo tanto amati''), a wide fresco of post-World War II Italian life and politics, dedicated to fellow director Vittorio De Sica. Mariangela Giordano (2 September 1937 – 16 July 2011) was an Italian film and television actress. Life and career Born in Dolcedo, Imperia, Italy as Maria Angela Giordano, the daughter of a journalist, Giordano was elected Miss Liguria in 1954. Giuseppe Cederna (born 25 June 1957) is an Italian actor and author. Life and career Born in Rome, the son of the journalist and politician Antonio Cederna and nephew of the writer and journalist Camilla Cederna, from his youth Cederna was attracted by the profession of mime and clown, and after several theatrical experiences in 1977 he founded the company Anfeclown.
