Capo D'Orlando
Capo d'Orlando ( scn, Capu d'Orlannu) is a in the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily, southern Italy, one of the main centers of the mountain and coastal Nebrodi area. History After the destruction of the Greek colony of Agathyrnum by the Roman Republican Army, the only settlement was a tiny fisherman's village. In 1925 Capo d'Orlando was elevated to the status of Comune (council), as before it was included in the territory of Naso. A railway station was made during the Fascist era in the early 20th century. During this century the population and tourist development quickly grew. Economy Tourism is one of the main resources of the local economy. Culver City, California
Culver City is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,779. Founded in 1917 as a "whites only" sundown town, it is now an ethnically diverse city with what was called the "third-most diverse school district in California" in 2020. The Roman Villa of Bagnoli is located in contrada Bagnoli-San Gregorio, near the town of Capo d'Orlando, Sicily. History and description The site was discovered in 1986 during the construction of a carpark, and subsequent archaeological excavations unearthed part of a luxurious seaside villa dating from the early third century AD. The rooms explored so far belonged to thermal baths decorated with floor mosaics. Much of the villa remains buried beneath buildings and a road. Capo D'Orlando Lighthouse
Capo d'Orlando Lighthouse ( it, Faro di Capo d'Orlando) is an active lighthouse located at the foot of a rocky ridge, north of the municipality of Capo d'Orlando on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Description The lighthouse, built in 1904, consists of a masonry octagonal tower, high, with balcony and lantern attached to the seaward side of 1-storey keeper's house. The tower, recently painted, is a red terra cotta decorated with white trim, the lantern is white and the lantern dome is grey metallic. The light is positioned at above sea level and emits two long white flashes in a 12 seconds period visible up to a distance of . Vittorio Sindoni (born 21 April 1939) is an Italian director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Capo d'Orlando, Sicily, Sindoni started his career on stage directing the theater group "Il Collettivo" ("The Collective") in Rome, and worked for some years as author of several RAI cultural programs. In the late 1960s he entered the film industry as director and screenwriter, directing numerous comedies. He is known to Italian giallo fans for his 1968 film '' Deadly Inheritance''. Lucio Piccolo di Calanovella (October 27, 1901 in Palermo – May 26, 1969 in Capo d'Orlando) was an Italian poet. Biography Lucio Piccolo, also known as Baron Lucio Piccolo di Calanovella, was first cousin to Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the author of ''The Leopard''. Piccolo endowed himself with a vast library and mastered the major languages of the European literary tradition (as well as Persian), while living a life of relative solitude. Conversano
Conversano ( Barese: ) is an ancient town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Bari, Apulia, south-eastern Italy. It is southeast of Bari and from the Adriatic coast, at above sea level. The counts of Conversano owned a stud that they used to breed black Neapolitan stallions with Barb and Andalusian genetic backgrounds: these horses had strong ram-like heads, short backs, and broad hocks.
